2019 Club Champions Declared

posted Mar 29, 2019, 4:56 PM by Oakwood Couples   [ updated Mar 29, 2019, 4:58 PM ]

In a hard fought battle, Don & Lorraine Blair prevailed in the gross score category with a record-tying adjusted total of 161, while Gene & Connie Hughes took home the net category prize. No small contribution to this accomplishment was Gene's gross 81, net 58 score. And for the rest of us, there's always next year.

It was great to honor our Past Presidents at our March 8 event. They have served the league well, and kept it going all these years. And for all the work they put in, they got a free meal that day. What a deal!

Past Presidents who are still members of the League are:
1999 - Jack & Kay Lehmkuhl
2010 & 2011 - Dale & Suzie Willey
2012 - Harry & Liz Pritchard
2013 - Don & Linda Meisinger (unavailable)
2014 - John & Becky Kolb
2015 - Gregg & Kathy Heinemann (unavailable)
2016 - Dave & Steph Higgins
2017 - Dick & Carole Schmidt
Thanks for all your hard work!

Our January 25 event saw many members Going Out Looking Foolish. The golf attire was the talk of the town. Congratulations to Jim Ray and Mary Dryseth for taking 1st place impersonating Bob Marley, and to Dick and Carole Schmidt for taking second place. We'll have to do this again next year. Chits are now more flexible

posted Feb 14, 2018, 4:26 AM by Oakwood Couples

The prize money you get from your golf leagues (affectionately known as "chits") can now be used at the fitness facility as well as any of our restaurants in addition to the golf shop. The restriction that they must be used by January 31 of the following calendar year is still in place.

By the way, while many people think chit is an acronym for "credit held in trust", in fact, it originates from an 18th century Hindi word "chitty".

Where are the photos?

posted Dec 19, 2017, 10:57 AM by Oakwood Couples

Good question. We haven't been as diligent as we could have been regarding event photos. We thought no one cared, but in checking the website statistics, the Gallery page was accessed 31 times last week. So someone's looking. I did manage to get the November 24th photos posted today.

We'll see if we can get a better system in place to manage the photos, but that won't happen until the webmaster returns in late January.

If anyone is interested in tackling the job of organizing the photos, I'd be happy to accept your help.

Now Past President Dave Higgins introduced the Executive for the upcoming season:

Left to right:
Vice-Presidents: Fred & Linda Smith
Presidents: Dick & Carole Schmidt
Secretary/Treasurer: Mary Dyrseth-Ray & Jim Ray

The actual election was quick and to the point so as not to give any of these fine volunteers a chance to change their mind!
