·         Yesterday the Jr girls basketball team travelled to Iroquois Ridge for league action.  OT got off to a good start and played good defense which had OT with the lead at halftime.  However the Ridge had a couple hot shooters and gained some momentum which our Devils could not stop, leading to a loss.  Top scorer for OT was Mackenzie Probert.  Defensive and rebounding mentions go to Lucy Edgar, Jayani Kantaria and Lauryn Chew.

 

·         Are you interested in travelling to Spain this March Break?  OT students that missed the meeting should come to guidance for more information.

 

·         This is a reminder to all members of the Chinese Calligraphy Club; we are meeting today after school in room 191 from 3:00 – 3:40.  New members welcome.

 

·         There will be an EveryChildNow meeting today after school in room 234.

 

·         The Jr girls field hockey team played a hard fought game yesterday against Nelson.  Coming out strong with a goal scored by Dilia Atalay the girls played outstandingly.  However the game ended with Nelson taking the win 2-1.  Well done to Ainsley Morrison, player of the Game with some great saves in net. 

 

·         The Environmental Club will meet today at 3 PM in room 195.

 

·         If you were invited to Excellence Night please make sure to come at 6:40 to your designated room.  Lists will be posted tonight.

 

·         To all Volunteer Outreach members:  we will be having a short but important meeting after school tomorrow, Oct 20th in room 210.

 

·         It’s Thursday which means Board Game Club is back.  Periods 3 & 4 in room 195.

 

·         Yesterday the Jr boys volleyball team travelled all the way to Acton where they played two games of spectacular volleyball and extended their season record to 9 and 0.  Special mention should go out to our rookie squad led by captain John Kinkartz who took the final set of the day with a dominant 15-2 score.

 

·         Congratulations to all members of the Cross Country team who ran at the Pre-GHAC race held at Hilton Falls yesterday.  Special shout out to Sawyer Bovington who led the midget boys to a 3rd place finish.

 

·         2016 -2017 Yearbooks are available in the main office for all student who ordered one.  Please come pick them up.  Also Photo proofs are available in the office.

·         If you are interested in joining ATHLETIC COUNCIL  we will be having our first meeting tomorrow morning at 7:45 in the phys-ed classroom. Everyone is welcome.

 

·         Attention DECA:  Just a reminder that we have a meeting today after school for all members.

 

·         To all those interested in Art Council; we will be having an important meeting today after school in the atrium.  Important information about club activities will be provided at the meeting.

 

·         This is a reminder that there will be Chess Club today from 3:00 – 4:00 in room 216.

 

·         The Sr girls field hockey team lost in penalty strokes in the semi- finals yesterday.  The team dominated the entire game but were unable to capitalize on their chances.  The game was tied 0-0 at the end of regulation and remained tied after an exciting overtime.  Julija Rego scored for the Devils in penalty strokes.  Hannah and Niamh Reidy had excellent games.  The team was led by their captains Tess Alksnis, Gillian Groth and Alex Kinkartz.  The team had an excellent season and the coaches are extremely proud of your play and development this season.

 

·         Reminder to all interested in trying out for the swim team; forms are due Friday and they can be brought to the arts office ( room 159)

 

·         There will be a brief but important meeting after school today for all grade 11 Business SHSM students in room 198.

 

·         There will be a brief Book Club meeting today after school in the Library.

 

·         Are you interested in travelling to Spain this March Break?  OT students that missed the meeting should come to guidance for more information.

·         Attention all curlers:  Curling forms and fees are due this Friday Oct 20th.  See Mr Wilford or Ms Liou to hand the forms in or for more information.

 

·         Do you have an innovative idea you want to share?  Are you interested in helping the community?  Then come and sign up for the Entrepreneurs Expo outside Club Connect for  your own booth.  All profits  will be donated to charity.

 

·         Ignite is having a meeting today after school in room 197 at 3 PM.  We welcome everyone to come enjoy food, fun and an opportunity to learn about Christianity.  Bring your friends and anyone who is interested.

 

·         Attention grade 9 students:  Remember that all forms for Take our Kids to Work Day are due tomorrow.  Your grade 9 teacher in period 5 has a folder for the forms.  Only 2 weeks until November 1.

 

·         To all of you who received an envelope for immunizations; please bring back your form this morning in the main office.

 

·         There is an Entrepreneurs Club meeting today in room 237.  All new members are welcome and no business experience needed.  Come meet us there right after school.

 

·         Important reminder to all RDC members:  there is a meeting tonight right after school.

 

·         Yesterday the Jr girls basketball team hosted the Hayden Huskies.  The first quarter was close, however OT could not handle the Hayden press nor could our Devils capitalize on their opportunities at the net which found the Devils falling behind and taking the loss.

·         Looking to improve your IMPROV skills?  How about having some fun and meeting awesome individuals?  Come to the theatre today at 3:00 PM and join us for the Improv Club.

 

·         Attention grade 9 students:  remember that all forms for Take Our Kids to Work Day are due on Wednesday of this week.  Your grade 9 teacher in period 5 has a folder for the forms.  Only 2 weeks until November 1.

 

·         Attention grade 12’s:  On Wednesday Oct 18th there will be a degree and diploma assembly during period 2 and period 3.  Continue your research and open your mind to the possibilities on a variety of campuses.

 

·         Last Friday our Jr girls basketball team hosted the Nelson Lords.  Nelson came out strong from the start and did not let up during all 4 quarters and took the win.  Acknowledgements go to Chloe Barltrop, Mackenzie Probert, Lucy Edgar and Zoe Preston for their hustle and heart.  Top scorers for OT were Lyra Ahmad and Lauryn Chew.

·         Attention grade 12’s :  On Wednesday Oct 18th there will be a degree and diploma assembly during periods  2 & 3.  Continue your research and open your mind to the possibilities on a variety of campuses.

 

·         Attention DECA:  your event assignments have been posted on the door beside the business office.  Not the business office but beside it.

 

·         Just a reminder that there will be Debate practice Monday after school in room 118.

 

·         Design Club will be having a meeting today after school in room 173.  New members are welcome.

 

·         This is a reminder that representatives from Lakehead University will be here 11:45 – 12:45 today in the atrium to give out  information and answer questions.

 

·         The senior girls field hockey team won their first playoff game 2-0 against Burlington Central.  The girls played an amazing game.  Shout outs to Hannah and Niamh Reidy as players of the game.

 

·         If you are coming to the Music Retreat this weekend please meet in the atrium after school at 3:00.

·         It’s Thursday which means Board Game Club is back.  Periods 3 & 4 in room 195.

 

·         There will be a brief meeting of students interested in joining the Environmental Club today after school in room 195.  Any questions see Ms Farquharson.

 

·         Open Improv this Monday in the theatre at 3 PM.  All are welcome.

 

·         Yesterday the Junior field hockey team played hard at Hayden in 2 league games, tying the first 0-0 and winning the second 3-0.  Goals were scored by Katie McCarter, Emily Schiavone and Natasha Browning.  Players of the games were Maggie McLean and Emily Schiavone.

 

·         Reminder there will be an OT Robotics meeting today for all members in the CAD Lab.

 

·         Come to the Devil’s Pit today and tomorrow during periods 3 & 4 to pick up your yearbook.

 

·         To all those interested in joining the swim team:  there will be a brief meeting today after school in room 134.

 

·         Yesterday the senior football team hosted Iroquois Ridge.  OT got out to a quick start when Judhis Lily stripped the ball and returned it for a touchdown.  The game was tied 6-6 through 3 quarters.  Despite solid defense and flashes of offence the Devils were unable to score enough points to win.

 

·         The Ignite club is holding their first welcome meeting today in room 197 at 3 PM.  We welcome everyone to come enjoy food, fun, and an opportunity to learn more about Christianity.  Bring your friends and anyone who is interested.

 

·         Are you interested in joining the Ski and Snowboard team this year?  Then come to an information meeting today after school in the café.  We will be discussing an exciting opportunity this year for members of the team.

 

·         The Senior girls basketball team continued their winning ways yesterday at Sainte-Trinite. After a slow start to the game OT picked up the pace started rebounding and increased the intensity on defence.  This resulted in a 52-30 final score.  Standouts in the game included:  Annie B and Chelsea C for their tenacious rebounding; Emilie D for her excellent perimeter defence and Anna B for being the game high scorer, finishing with 23 points.

·         Are you interested in joining the Ski and Snowboard team this year?  Then come to an information meeting on Thursday after school in the café.  We will be discussing an exciting opportunity this year for members of the team.

·         This is a reminder that representatives from the University of British Columbia will be here 11:45 – 12:45 today in the atrium to give out information and answer questions.

 

·         Last Thursday our Jr girls basketball team travelled to White Oaks for league action.  Our Devils had a rough start but played much better in the second half.  Unfortunately they could not hold off the Wildcats and OT fell 37-26.  Great rebounding and overall effort was seen by Lauryn Chew and Lucy Edgar.  Grade 9 rookie Sabrina Edwards did a great job of getting the offence going in the fourth quarter.

 

·         Reminder there will be an OT Robotics meeting Thursday for all members in the CAD lab.

·         It’s Thursday which means Board Game Club is back, periods 3 & 4 in room 195.  Come play some crazy games with some crazy people.

 

·         This is a reminder that representatives from Sheridan College will be here from 11:45 – 12:45 today in the atrium to give out information and answer questions.

 

·         Are you looking for something to do after school today?  Come out and support the senior and junior boys volleyball teams in gym A & B at 3:30.

 

·         Congratulations to all members of the OT Cross Country team who participated in the McMaster Marauder race yesterday.  Special shout out to the junior girls who came 1st as a team for their age division.  Members of the squad are Willow Bennett, Bel Zhao, Aine Willis, Paige Murray and Jackie Murray.

 

·         Any boys interested in playing for the varsity hockey team are asked to attend a short but important meeting today after school in room 153.  All those interested must attend.

 

·         Concert Choir rehearsal is today at 3:00 in room 168 ( vocal music room ).  Come one, come all- open to all grades.

 

·         Every Child Now club will be having our first meeting today after school in room 234.  If you want to make the world a better place come to room 234 after school today.

 

·         The Senior girls basketball team continued their winning ways yesterday at MM Robinson.  The game was a defensive battle throughout.  At halftime the score was 16-16, however OT increased its level of play and won the game with a final score of 44-31.  The team was led by the amazing rebounding of Kelly K; the exceptional defensive efforts from Emile D and Anna B; and the scoring provided by Anisha R and Ivana N.

·         Any boys interested in playing for the varsity hockey team are asked to attend a short but important meeting tomorrow after school in room 153.  All those interested must attend.

 

·         Yesterday the Jr girls basketball team travelled to Garth Webb for league action.  Zoe Preston and Lauryn Chew did a great job rebounding and also contributed important points to get OT within 6 points of the Chargers lead in the 4th quarter.  Lucy Edgar, Mackenzie Probert, Kyra Holzscherer and Alex Houser also contributed to the comeback, however our Devils had to many turnovers and were not able to capitalize on their opportunities which prevented them from stopping the Chargers’ attack and finished with a 35-20 loss.

 

·         Each month an athlete from a red Devils’ sports team is recognized for their hard work, dedication and coachability.  Congratulations to the athletes of the month for September:  Senior field hockey; Gillian Groth and Junior field hockey; Katherine Muschette.  Please come down to the phys ed office at lunch today to have your picture taken.

 

·         Are you interested in writing the fall PSAT?  OT has 3 spots available for the Oct 25th test.  First come-first served with a cheque to OTHS for $30.00.  Please come to Guidance.

 

·         Book Club will have its first meeting today after school in the library.  New members are welcome.

 

·         Just a reminder that Model UN tryouts are after school today.

 

·         Attention grade 9’s:  November 1st is TAKE OUR KIDS TO WORK DAY.  Today your period 5 teacher will hand out forms to be taken home.  Remember November 1st, all grade 9’s will not be at OT – they will be visiting their parents’/guardians work places.
