·         Current SHSM Business Students:  Are you interested in working with Halton School Board Leaders and building your resume?  Innovative, Creative and Entrepreneurial – ICE workshop field trip happens on March 6th.  Any interested students must see Mrs. O’Hara in Guidance over the next few days.

 

·         Relay For Life Committee members:  if you are on the promotion awareness survivors, entertainment, foods or donations/Fundraising Committee, you have a meeting tomorrow at 7:45!

 

·         Hello OTHS!  Just a reminder there is a brief Animal Rights Club meeting today after school in Rm. 198.

 

·         Today our Varsity Boys Hockey Team travels to Glen Abbey Arena to take on the Raiders of St. Thomas Aquinas.  The puck drops at 3:30 p.m.  Come out and cheer the team on.  Teachers, please excuse members of the team at 2:00 p.m.  Good luck Devils!

 

·         Teachers, please excuse students going to Music Fest to meet in the Atrium at 10:45 a.m.

·         Any Gr. 9 or 10 boys interested in trying out for the Jr. Hockey Team are asked to attend a short but important meeting Wednesday, February 22nd at 7:45 a.m. sharp in Rm. 153.  All interested must attend.

 

 

·         Extra help sessions for all ELLs writing the OSSLT are every Tuesday and Thursday in Rm. 189ACome on out today and bring your practice test!

 

·         Attention GHAC swimmers are reminded the bus leaves at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.! 

 

·         A reminder to Jr. Boys Rugby players that Tuesday’s practice is at Pine Glen.  Get your own ride and bring a mouth guard.

·         Attention Intermediate REACH Members.  There is a practice today after school from 3 to 3:45p.m. in R,. 220.  Please see Mrs. Cruickshank if you cannot make this practice.

 

·         There will be an information meeting tomorrow for any boys interested in trying out for the Boys Baseball Team in Rm. 216 at 3:00 p.m.  Any player that can’t make the meeting must see Ms. Preiner in the Math & Science Office to pick up forms.

 

·         Thank you to all students  that submitted their course selections for next year.  If you need to make a change to your selections, Counsellors will see students starting on Thursday through to March Break.  After March Break there will be one more opportunity to make changes and that will happen in April when mid-term reports come out. 

 

Counsellors will be calling into classes today and tomorrow to get the students that did not submit their courses on time to come to enter their courses in Lab 239. 

Grade 12’s who haven’t completed  NOT RETURNING, please report to computer Lab 239 at the beginning of Period 1 today.

·         AP Exam Registration closes end of today,  Friday,  Feb. 17th.  All students wanting to write AP Exams in May must register by the deadline.

 

·         Congratulations to the OT Swim Team on their awesome 2nd place finish at Haltons.  Big congrats to Ahmed E. who brought home two individual gold medals and was part of the gold and silver medal winning Sr. Relay Teams.  Aidan T. , Paul L., Mark M. and Albert N. rounded out the Relay Teams. Aidan T.  also brought home a gold medal for the Sr. Men’s 50 metre freestyle. 

·         The Sr. Girls Relay Team also won gold.  Congratulations to Diana G., Quincy D., Olivia B., and Jacey V.  Jacey also won an individual silver medal.

·         Mohammed E. won individual gold and silver in the Jr. Boys Relay.  Owen M., Thomas V., Connor M., and Ayden C. also competed on the Relay Team.

·         Winning silver medals were won by  Ava S., Cameron M., in individual events and the Jr. Girls Relay Team of Rianne A., Alex R., Emily S., and Lexi M., The team moves on to the GHAC next Wednesday, February 22 nd.  Go Devils!

 

·         A reminder to all Jr. Boys Rugby players that the practice on Tuesday next week is at Pine Glen.  Check the Facebook Group and the Twitter account for details.

 

·         Yesterday OTHS Sr. Girls Volleyball Team faced a very strong team from M.M. Robinson in the semi-finals.  Our girls dug deep and won the match!  On to the Halton Finals Thursday.  Congratulations Ladies!!

 

·         Yesterday the Jr. Girls Volleyball Team faced off against Central  in the Halton Semi-finals.  The girls made a dramatic comeback from a 19-24 deficit in the first set, winning 29-27, the sealed the deal with a 15-6 win in the third set.  Good luck to all the girls as they face off against Jean Vanier in the Halton Championship next Thursday.  Go Devils!!

 

·         Club Fair is today!  If you want to get involved here’s your chance, come to the atrium during Periods 3 and 4 to see all the awesome clubs OTHS has to offer.  See you there!

·         Grade 12 students:  if you are graduating and not returning, it is very important that you go into MyBlueprint and indicate that you are NOT RETURNING.  If you have not already indicated this, please go into MyBlueprint today and select Not Returning.

 

·         If you are returning next year, your courses should already be in MyBlueprint and hopefully you have completed the returning to OTHS form.  These are overdue – come to Guidance if you have not already submitted this form.

 

·         For all students in Grade 9, 10, and 11.  This is the final weekend to select your courses for next year.  All students must submit their courses into MyBlueprint by 8:00 a.m.  on Tuesday morning.  Come to Guidance today if you are having any issues or if you would like help.  Counsellors will not be meeting with students after the deadline.

·         Listen up Gr. 11 & 12!   If you are interested in getting into the Skilled Trades, you should start applying now to the Concentrated OYAP programs!  Visit www.haltonpathways.ca and click on the OYAP section for more information.  Act now, don’t wait!

 

·         OUAC and OCAS update:  All Gr. 12 students should login to their applications and review their semester 1 marks.  Any issues should be reported to Guidance Office.   Good luck!

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity Boys Hockey Team traveled to Joshua Creek Arena to host Christ the King.  The Devils gave up 3 goals late in the third period and lost 5-3.

 

 

·         Yesterday the Sr. Boys Basketball Team punched their ticket to the Halton Championship with an emphatic 70-61 win over the Huskies of Frank Hayden.  Michael G. led the way with his lockdown defence.  The Devils play in the Halton Championship next Wednesday, February 22nd.

 

·         Come out and cheer on your Sr. Girls Volleyball Devils after school today in our Gym, as they take on M.M. Robinson in the semi-final game.  Go Devils!

·         Period 5 Teachers, please continue collecting the MyBlueprint sign off sheets and urge students in your class to get these submitted.

·         This is the absolute last day to buy Candy Grams!  They are being delivered in 5th Period today.  So buy one for all your friends and also buy some baked goods at the Devils Day during lunch.

 

·         Want to test drive your field of interest at high school?  Check out the Specialist High Skills Major programs!  If you are in Grade 10, now is the time to apply!  Visit www.haltonpathways.ca to learn about programs, or talk to a guidance counselor.  It is never too early to start planning!

 

·         Yesterday the Jr. Boys’ Basketball Team travelled to Georgetown for their quarter finals game against the Jaguars of Christ the King – a Tier 1 Team.  The boys played well but lost a close game to end their season.  Congratulations on a great season boys!  See you at the party.

 

·         Congratulations to the Jr. & Sr. Girls Volleyball Teams who won their quarter finals yesterday against MM Robinson.  Shout out to Mila and Lexie.  Good luck Thursday girls!!

 

·         There will be a brief meeting after school in the Cafeteria for any students who are interested in receiving more information about the Gr. 11 Leadership CourseAll students are welcome to attend the meeting, regardless of whether you received a nomination letter. 

 

·         Yesterday OTHS Sr. Boys Basketball Team defeated Corpus Christi 77-48 to advance to the Halton Semi Finals.  Nolan J. led the way with 12 points, 8 boards and 5 assists.  Mohamed C. led all scorers with 18 points.  Good luck tomorrow!

·         There will be a concert choir rehearsal today after school in Room 168.  New singers are always welcomed and encouraged to join.

 

·         Challenge and change students who are supposed to meet with Mr. Zingano in Period 2 and 3, please meet him in period 4 instead. 

 

·         Come out and support your Senior and Junior Girls Volleyball Teams as they head into the playoffs.  Monday night after school in our gym.  See you there!

 

·         Just a reminder, if you have been invited to after-school help sessing for the OSSLT, please meet in the cafeteria after school today.

·        Last week our Varsity Boys’ Hockey Team started off with a tough 2-0 loss on Wednesday to Corpus Christi.  They then left on Thursday to participate in the Great Canadian Classic at Canlan Toronto.  The team, started off with two straight ties as a result of giving up late goals in the last minute of play to Bishop Redding and Chippewa Secondary from North Bay.  Our team bounced back on Friday with two straight wins; one over a school from Sudbury and then defeating a school from Winnipeg to qualify for the finals against Chippewa Secondary from North Bay.   Both teams gave up leads and ended up 4-4 after regulation time and went to overtime.  Unfortunately the Devils lost, but did came away with the silver medal and a successful weekend behind them.  The team’s next action is Wednesday when they will host Christ the King.

·         Congratulations to Victoria W., this year’s Student of Excellence.

 

·         All students who are registering for Co-op next year need to pick up an application in Rm. 136 or Guidance Office.  If you have any questions about Co-op, please see Mrs. Stearns-Brown in Rm. 136 at lunch or after school.

 

·         Today at 3:00 p.m. there will be a meeting for all Jr. girls interested in playing rugby for OTHS this year..  If you are interested, but can’t make the meeting, please see Mr. Valley.

 

·         Attention Gr. 11 and 12 Physics students.  Physics Club is back.  Come and learn physics with us today in Room 221 right after school.  New Members are always welcome.

 

·         There is an Assembly in Per. 2 for all Gr. 12’s on what’s next with your College and Univ. applications, scholarships and those wanting to return to OTHS next year.

 

·         Guidance Counsellors have been pleased to see how many students have been into MyBlueprint for course selection.  We encourage everyone to finalize their selections this weekend and submit them.

·         All students who are registering for Co-op next year need to pick up an application in Rm. 136 or Guidance Office.  If you have any questions about Co-op, please see Mrs. Stearns-Brown in Rm. 136 at lunch or after school.

 

·         Last night Jr. Boys Basketball Team took on Aldershot.  Coming back after a slow start, our boys made up the deficit and tied the game!  Unfortunately, they were unable to regain the lead and lost in overtime.  Great job boys!  Final regular season game is here tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. 

 

·         There will be an Every Child Now Meeting today after school in Rm. 211.  If you want to earn volunteer hours, learn more about Skate it UP!  We’re planning our event to help kids in need, so this is a great new chance to get involved at school!

 

·         There is a meeting for all Jr. girls interested in playing rugby for OTHS this year on Friday, Feb. 10th at 3:00 p.m.  If you are interested, but can’t make the meeting, please see Mr. Valley.

 

·         It’s DECA Provincials tomorrowAll competitors need to attend a short 10 minute meeting after school in Rm. 137 to get their name tag.  

 

·         Today is the practice OSSLT.  All students writing the literacy test this year with extra time must be in the library now! 

 

·         Open IMPROV today in the theatre!  All welcome.

 

·         Candy Grams are now on sale in the Atrium during Period 3 and 4.  All the money raised goes towards supporting veterans.

·    For any grade 12s who have not yet had their grad photos taken, on Monday Feb 27 to Friday March 3, Edge Imaging will be here taking grad photos. Sign up now at bookmygrad.com. The school code is OTH. Flyers with more information are available in the office.

·         The Christian Club is meeting Thursday after school in room 189B. New members are welcome! See you there.

·         Those interested in joining the Investment Club , please drop by room 232 to see Mr. Pearson immediately after school.

·         Candy Grams are back. They come with a Hersheys Kiss and a Lollipop and are only $2 for 1 or $5 for 3. All proceeds go to help soldiers and veterans through Soldier On. We plan to deliver them on Tuesday, Valentine’s Day…so buy one for your friends, teachers or even more than friends.

·         The following Relay for Life Committees will be having a meeting tomorrow at 7:45. Survivors, Registration, Awareness, Promotion, and Team Captains. If you are on one of these committees, please don’t forget to attend your meeting!

·         Reminder to all concert band members, there is a mandatory practice today after school. See you then.

·         OT Book Club will be having a brief meeting after school today in room 189A.

·         Ultimate Frisbee meeting will now be Thursday after school in room 116.

·         A reminder to all JR boys rugby players that there will be a brief meeting after school today in the fitness centre. That is all grade 9 and 10 boys interested in playing rugby this year.

·         Why not celebrate the end of exams with the GSA by icing cookies with us! Make sure to come by this week if you want to be in our yearbook picture too.
