2. Military Career Opportunity 12/17/18 - Registration CLOSED

Join us for a day filled with exploring military options for our students.  This 3-hour professional development will focus on learning how to maximize opportunities for student career exploration, planning and development with the following local military personnel:
  • ROTC (US Army/National Guard)
  • United States Naval Academy
  • United States Military Academy (West Point Academy)
An emphasis will also be placed on using the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) in Career Development.  PLEASE BRING AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE - this portion is interactive.

This professional development opportunity will provide three or the five hours required for military career options as it pertains to certificate and license renewal..
 
School Counselor Professional Development Law: 
Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) 380.1233 was recently amended requiring school counselors to complete fifty (50) professional development hours specific to college and career readiness every five years. These hours are a part of the required 150 hours of Education-Related Professional Learning hours necessary for renewal of a Michigan teaching certificate with a School Counselor (NT) endorsement and the School Counselor License. 

The hours must be accrued as follows: 
  • 25 hours - college preparation and selection; and 
  • 25 hours - career consultation; and 
  • 5 hours of the 50 hours MUST include the exploration of military career options as it pertains to career opportunities
