These are the official figures. However it seems the US military is cheating. An obscure Pentagon report listed 37,354 US troops stationed in South Korea as of Sept. 30th 2011.

Interesting Fact No.2 There are 18,000 military families in South Korea
Interesting Fact No. 3 Under the "tour normalisation" program, the US Dept. of Defence antIcipates a tital of 84,000 DOD personnel in South Korea in forthcoming years.
