Workshop Objective

Musical Rhythm: Cross-Disciplinary and Multi-Cultural Perspectives

Seeking to bridge the gap between theory and practice, this workshop provides a forum for an in-depth, cross-disciplinary review of expansive approaches to music analysis and modeling. Through scholarly investigation, including an analysis of music and dance performances, musical rhythm is considered from four interlocking standpoints: music theory, musicology, and ethnomusicology; music modeling and computational approaches to music; music perception and cognition; and neuroscience.
