Emily Frantz
Nuclear Engineer at Newport News Shipbuilding

Emily earned her BS in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May 2015.  Upon graduation, she joined Newport News Shipbuilding as an engineer in maintaining naval reactor prototypes 
used to train sailors in Ballston Spa, NY.

Emily was an active leader in her collegiate section, where she started several committees and was ultimately Section President. During her senior year, she served as a Region F Collegiate Representative.   

In addition to her work with Newport News, Emily is a licensed Senior Reactor Operator and teaches a critical reactor laboratory class at RPI's test reactor in Schenectady, NY.  In her free time, Emily enjoys rock climbing, running, knitting, and making pickles.

Iris A. Galvez
Principal Engineer, ATD Infrastructure, GLOBALFOUNDRIES

Iris holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, and a MS in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University.

She has worked in the Semiconductor industry for 11+ years in companies like IBM, Motorola, Intel and most recently, at GLOBALFOUNDRIES in Malta, NY.

In addition to being an engineer, Iris is a licenced Zumba instructor teaching 3 classes a week. Oustide of work, Iris enjoys traveling, baking and spending time with family.

Jordan LeClair, EIT
Jordan earned her BS in Civil Engineering with Structural and Architectural concentrations from Clarkson University in May 2015.

Upon graduation, she joined McFarland Johnson, Inc. in their Saratoga Springs office as a junior engineer in the aviation division.  

Jordan was an active member in her collegiate section, where she was Treasurer and President. During her senior year, she was awarded the Region F Emerging Leader Award.    

In her free time, Jordan enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with her husband.

Julia Dockum
Structural Engineer, AECOM

Julia earned her BS in Civil Engineering with Structural and Architectural concentrations from Clarkson University in May 2015. Upon graduation, she joined AECOM as a structural engineer in the transportation department in Latham, NY. 

Julia was an active member in her collegiate section, where she participated in several committees and held the positions of Secretary and President. As a professional member, she has previously held the positions of Section Representative and Vice President of the NYSCD Section. Julia has also been involved at the Regional level as Region F Collegiate Representative and Region F Secretary. She currently serves as FY18 Region F Treasurer.

In her free time, Julia enjoys horseback riding, outdoor activities with her puppy, and volunteering.

Erin Lavigne
Leading Edge Product Manager


Erin earned her BS in Chemistry (May 2002) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and PhD in Materials Chemistry (April 2007) from Northwestern University. Her research focused on the use of noble metal nanoparticles for optical electronics, chemical and biological sensors by taking advantage of their localized surface plasmon resonance enhancements.  

Upon graduation, Erin joined the IBM Semiconductor Research and Development team based in Albany, New York.  There Erin worked on IBM's advanced technology node patterning and metrology development for a little over 7 years before moving to IBM's Hopewell Junction location to pursue engineering management.  In July of 2015, Erin joined GLOBALFOUNDRIES as apart of the IBM acquisition where she did a 14 month assignment as the technical assistant/chief-of-staff to the Vice President of Advanced Technology Development.  In her current position Erin is a leading edge product manager and owns the 14nm and beyond 7nm product lines. 

Erin is very involved in STEM Women's organizations as well as STEM outreach.  She is the vice president of the NYSCD SWE Section, was active in both IBM's PowerUp Women's initiative and currently GLOBALFOUNDRIES' GlobalWomen.  Erin is a wife and mother of 2 kids (and 2 dogs) and in her spare time, enjoys cooking/baking, gardening, canning, being outside, travelling and spending time with her family.


Chelsey Kniffen
MJ Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C.

Chelsey earned her BS in Environmental Engineering with a concentration in Environmental Health Science from Clarkson University in May 2015. 

Chelsey currently works with MJ Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C. in Clifton Park, NY, as a design engineer in their civil and environmental groups.

Chelsey participated in her collegiate section, holding the positions of Membership Director, Director of Outreach and Conference Director. She also volunteered her time in college at the local humane society. 

In her free time, Chelsey enjoys cooking, crafting, outdoor activities, gardening, and traveling.

Andie Maret
Sr Process Engineer, Lithography, GLOBALFOUNDRIES 

Andie graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY May 2012. She joined GLOBALFOUNDRIES in August 2013 as a process engineer in Contamination Free Manufacturing (CFM). She is currently a process engineer in Photolithography focusing on Track Applications. Andie is heavily involved in GLOBALFOUNDRIES Women's Initiative, “GLOBALWOMEN”, designing and executing monthly "Lunch & Learns" for all to advance their careers and create a strong network. She has been an active SWE member and leader since her Freshman year graduating as RPI SWE section president. As a professional she has served as the SWE Future Leader Coordinator FY14 & FY15 and an active leader on the Collegiate Leadership Institute (CLI) team since FY14. Andie is the current Collegiate Section Counselor for RPI and Union College.

Hailey Green
Nuclear Design Engineer, KAPL

Hailey graduated from the University of Tennessee in May 2014 with a BS in Nuclear Engineering. In July 2014, she joined Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory as a nuclear design engineer in Schenectady, NY, where she works on the reactor core design for the new COLUMBIA submarine class. 

Hailey is new to SWE, but has been active in many professional societies. She is currently the chair of the Northeastern New York American Nuclear Society Local Section, and membership director for the KAPL Women in Nuclear chapter. 

In her spare time, Hailey enjoys baking, reading, video games, and spending time with friends.

Meghan Castellano
Installed Capacity Market Operations Engineer, NYISO

Meghan graduated from Clarkson University in 2014 with a BS in Engineering & Management, accompanied by a concentration in Sustainable Energy Systems Engineering. Currently, she is an Engineer at the New York Independent System Operator in Rensselaer, NY. 
Meghan has recently developed a professional relationship with SWE, becoming a first-time member in 2016 while initiating the NYISO’s Corporate Membership. She has been heavily involved in the national SWE conference career fairs in hopes of recruiting talented individuals passionate about the electric/energy industry. In addition to planning NYISO-SWE internal meetings and lunch-n-learns, Meghan is active in the company’s employee events committee and also spearheaded a Ski Club for her fellow colleagues to enjoy.

She can be most commonly found skiing, deep sea fishing, experimenting in the kitchen, practicing yoga, and traveling.
