English Teacher – Grades 8,9,10 & 12

Provided rigorous, standards-based instruction in order to maximize students’ reading, writing and listening proficiencies.  Lesson plans designed and structured to develop skills assessed in New York State’s ELA and Regents Exams.  Incorporated literary analysis, Shaffer writing program, research methods, grammar and vocabulary study, use of technology as well as film study. Differentiated instruction in order to cater to various learning styles.  Provided additional instruction in small group settings, emphasizing confidence-building and perseverance.  Acted as faculty advisor to literary and art magazine.

Humanities Teacher (7th and 8th Grade English and Social Studies)

Taught lessons that addressed various learning styles and methods as well as bolster students’ self-esteem and confidence.  Implemented New York City and State standards in order to maximize student achievement and comprehension.  Mentored by staff developers to promote an integrated and balanced curriculum.  Emphasis on Workshop Model and Balanced Literacy.

Also taught in school’s Sylvan Learning Center.  Worked closely with 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to systematically improve skills, comprehension and standardized test scores.

UJA-Federation – Israel

Received a fellowship for this educational/work program including teaching English as a second language and community service work with children, new immigrants and the elderly.  Fluent in Hebrew.
