State Qualifier @ McHenry County College

On February 11th, we had our State Qualifier competition. Here, we won all 5 of our match plays and were the first picking captain. We won the semi-final round by winning the first two matches of the series. In the championship round, we won the first match, but lost the next two matches. But a huge shout out to Dynamic Signals and Newton Busters. You were great alliance selections!. Although we lost the championship round, we qualified for state for being a Finalist Alliance Captain and being winners of the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award! This was a huge accomplishment. Everyone should be so proud of what we did that day. The next competition (State) is February 25th at Elgin Community College. Come out and support us!


We're Going to the World Championship!!

WE'RE GOING TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP by taking home the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award 2nd place. We are so exited to have the opportunity to attend this years World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri from April 26-29. We'd like to thank all of our mentors, sponsors, and other contributors because we never would've made it this far without you. We would also like to thank FIRST and FTC for giving us the chance to compete in this robotics competition. 

Boy Scout and Girl Scout Outreach

On April 5th, NYAN Robotics went to a Boy Scout Girl Scout outreach event. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts came from the Gurnee area to learn about STEM.
We presented our robot, BB-8, and Thor hammer to kids of all ages. We explained to them what these things do, and how they work. We went to this event to help kids get interested in FTC and STEM.

North Super Regional

We are going to Worlds!!!! We competed in the Super Regional Competition from March 29-April 1st in Cedar Rapids, IA. We competed in 9 Qualifying matches, winning 5 and ending up in 12th out of 36 in our division. We were selected as an alliance by the 3rd seed, team #6022 TBD. However, we did not win our championship round. We did win the 2nd place Rockwell Collins Innovate Award (Out of 72 teams) , making us 1 of 34 teams to qualify for the Worlds Competition in St. Louis, which will take place from April 26-29. This is a huge accomplishment and everyone on our team should be so proud!!

Engineering Open House

On March 18th, NYAN Robotics hosted an engineering open house, in which we invited 8 engineers to come over to our lab and give us ideas about our robot. We also showed them the cool things we have made and done as a team. These engineers are people who have college engineering/science degrees. Thank you to all who came!

Hosting a Scrimmage

On March 12th, NYAN Robotics graciously welcomed Newton Busters (Team #10138), Robot to the Knee (Team #5452), and Unknown Element (Team #10635) for a friendly scrimmage before the Super Regional Competition! Everyone used our field to test and run their robots in a real competition-like environment. It was a great experience! Good luck to all teams competing!!


State Competition!!!!!!

On February 24th and 25th, we had our State Competition. Here, we won 5 out of our 6 qualifying matches. We finished third place overall going into the semi-finals, and thus we were one of top four picking captains going into the finals. We won the semi-final round by winning the first two matches of the series. In the championship round, we won the first two matches, thus winning the championship!!!! A huge shout out to Newton Busters and Robot to the Knee. You were great alliance partners!!!!!! We qualified for Super Regionals for being part of the winning alliance and being winners of the Connect Award and the Control Award! This was a huge accomplishment. Everyone should be so proud of what we did that day. Our next competition (Super Regionals) is March 30th, 31st, and April 1st at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Come out and support us!

3rd League Meet @ Quest Academy

On January 7th, we had our 3rd and final league meet. Huge thanks to Quest Academy in Palatine for hosting this meet. We finished the day in 1st place with 10 QP and 351 RP. Overall, we finished league play with 30 QP and 814 RP!! Great finish! Our next meet is the state qualifier tournament on Feb. 11 @ McHenry County College.

SECOND LEAGUE PLAY!!

Thank you to Lakes High School for hosting the second FTC Northern Illinois Central Division Competition for the 2016-17 FTC season on December 10th! Our team had an outstanding performance, we won five out of five matches. We hope to continue our great run at our next competition at Quest Academy on January 7th.
