It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 8th Annual NW PA GIS Conference. This conference presents some of the best geographic information system (GIS) practices in our community today.
Geospatial data and procedures are being developed at many stages, agencies and companies. Many of which are compiled essentially for the benefit of the public and for decision making support. This is especially true today where spatial information is essential for the development of Pennsylvania’s new Marcellus Shale exploration efforts with all the hope, anxiety and concerns that is accompanying it. This year, the conference committee invites everyone to work on networking. With new tools, strategies, models, and procedures that involve the integration of multiple data and procedures developed by diverse users from different agencies the GIS world can be much more seamless through cloud computing and mobile devices. This year’s conference theme reflects the importance of those tools in our day to day activities as GIS professionals as well as the general public use of hosted map applications on laptops, smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices. Let’s all, hand in hand, create our own GIS network of users, data, procedures, workflows and all that it takes to make a better world with geographic information.
Your colleagues will share their experience in project management, data modeling and strategies for disseminating data and knowledge. You will learn how other professionals are using GIS to integrate workflows, enhance communication, and build better partnerships.
