Hodegon

About
Hodegon was one of the Melbourne branches of the New Varangian Guard a living history group doing viking & byzantine period
The Branch was founded in October 1998 and shut down on June 2016

Description
The New Varangian Guard, is a non-profit Australia wide organization, devoted to reviving the diverse aspects of life in the Middle Ages.

We focus on the Varangian Guard, an elite mercenary guard drawn mainly from the Vikings and other European cultures spanning a period ranging from the 9th to 13th centuries AD, whom served as the bodyguard to the Byzantine Throne.

Our aim is to be as authentic as possible for both education and fun, without compromising on safety, the Law and people's enjoyment
