 Locate, record, preserve memorabilia relating to the history of nursing in Nova Scotia.

  1. Support the concept of having a Health Sciences Archive/Museum NS.
  2. Network provincially, nationally and internationally relative to the history of nursing in Nova Scotia.
  3. Recognize and nominate a nurse(s) for a  CRNNS Award
  4. Nominate individual(s) for the inclusion in the Canadian Nurse Association (CNA) Memorial Book.
  5. Promote the NS history of nursing to all Registered Nurses, students enrolled in Registered Nursing Programs and to the public.
  6. Collaborate with nursing associations and nursing education institutions on nursing historical activities throughout the provi

Becoming a Member


ACTIVE –current or retired Registered Nurse from any nursing school, who has paid the annual dues to NHNS 

ASSOCIATE – a student who is enrolled in a nursing degree program who is interested in promoting the objectives of the organization

                       - an individual interested in promoting the objectives and functions within the bylaws of the organization and has paid the annual dues.

AFFILIATE – group/organization member


Active & Associate annual dues--$15.00 To arrange payment of dues via bank transfer send a message to our  treasurer at:

Affiliate annual dues - $25.00

Payable January 1st each year to the Treasurer


Active and Associate members are eligible to vote and chair any committee within the organization. Active members are eligible to hold an executive office.

Any member may attend executive/core and any educational meetings.


The Core committee consists of local members of easy availability to attend meetings to be representative of those members who are unable to attend such meetings. The Core committee meets with the Executive, participates in discussions, votes on issues and assists in chairing the Standing Committees to keep  the organization afloat.

 Officers of the organization serve a minimum two year term and shall be elected at the annual general meeting; President, President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer (The past president shall be the nominating chair)



 a)      EXECUTIVE-& any general member  meet monthly except December, June, July, August.







 COMMUNICATION to members will be through email, mail delivery or via the web site as part of CRNNS & Nursing History NS



 In 2012, we joined the Canadian  Association for the History of Nursing (CAHN).and the Association of Health Sciences Archives and Museums of Nova Scotia. (AHSAMNS)
