Mission Statement

Husky Environmental Action Team (HEAT) is a student group working towards environmental sustainability and carbon neutrality at Northeastern University. HEAT raises awareness about sustainability issues at Northeastern University, works with the Administration of the University to establish and advance sustainability initiatives, and hosts events that promote responsible use of energy and waste. We target issues such as food, waste, energy, product life cycles, and recycling.

Things HEAT has done in the past...

volunteered in the community // established the Renewable Energy Fund and then petitioned to make the fee opt-out // secured recycling bins for all dorm rooms // hosted speaker Bill Nye the Science Guy // rescued literally tons of waste from Trash2Treasure // created a garden plot in the Fens // made good food together // expressed our political opinions in DC and MA // partied // educated NU students about how to compost // distributed paperless Green Living Guides // redesigned trash room signs to help students recycle more // exemplified a group of people committed to improving our campus
