NucDes'16

Nuclear Design 2016

This project is conceived to improve your knowledge

in fundamentals of nuclear reactor design,

as taught in the four chapters studied in class:

1) classification attempt

2) water-moderated reactors

3) graphite-moderated reactors

4) reactors with reduced moderation,

by working on some recent and accessible research.

Simulation Studies of

Small Modular Reactors

(SMRs, cf. IAEA's 2016 synthesis here)

for both uranium and thorium fuel cycles

(presented at the ICAPP 2016 conference)

  • 4 subjects (cf. 4 articles at bottom of this page)

    • All different, but on the same topic of SMRs

    • Each subject is presented by only one group

  • Understanding and synthesis work in group

    • During our brainstorming sessions and outside

    • Questions about precise issues to ask by e-mail

  • Send documents by e-mail before november 7

    • Slides in pdf, w/o animation (3 max. per person)

    • Abstract of about 800 words (2 pages max.)
