  1. After I’ve finished watching THOUSAND YEARS OF LOVE, I have many doubtful things that I think that the drama did not tell answers. It let us to think that
    – Why did the princess can know her own diary which has not been written yet?
    – Even though the princess can go back to her past with out using the necklace, why did Tatsuji’s mother much want to posses princess’s necklace?
    – Why did Tatsuji’s mother much try to stop the princess not to go back to her past?
    – Why did Kang-In-Chul act like he will jump with the princess down from the cliff but finally did not jump and leave the princess jump down lonely to her past?
    – And in the last part of this drama, why did Kang-In-Chul seem confidently can go to meet the princess at Nam Buyeo?
    – And finally, will Kang-In-Chul meet his beloved princess?

So I try to think for answers of these question. And I want to share them with other people.
And I want to know opinions of other people too.
    For my answers :
    1. Because the princess can know her own diary which has not been written, so that there must be more than two princess of Puyeoju live in the same earth but in different time lines.
    2. Because many events and persons which have been written in the 1,400 years old diary are as same as events and persons in the present, so that events in different time lines happen in same pattern repeatly.
    3. Because despite the princess travel across time to the future and then go back to her past , but the princess has never meet the princess from other time lines, so that although the princess travel to the future or go back to her past but she is still in her same time line only.
    4. Because princess’s necklace is a thing written in the diary and also in the portrait picture of a woman who was a lover of an ancestor of Fujiwara’s clan, but the necklace was dissapeared, so that Tatsuji’s mother want to posses it, and I think that she knows from the diary that the dissapearance of the necklace relate to travelling back to the past.
    5. About that Tatsuli’s mother do not want the princess go back to her past , I think Tatsuji’s mother is a type of Japanese nationalism who don’t want to see Korean’s blood contaminate in Fujiwara’s clan. And because her husband (Tatsuji’ father) has another Korean wife(Tatsuji’s biological mother), it makes her much more hates Korean’s woman.
    6. About that Kang-In-Chul didn’t jump down the cliff with the princess, it because he normally feared falling from height as an normal human , and he has never jumped across the time like the princess has. And this thing is his luck, because if he go back to the past simultaneously with the princess, he will surely be killed by prince Kim-Yoo-Suk.
    7. And from all above reason, in the last part of this drama, Kang-In-Chul looked at the necklace and find out that he can go to meet his beloved princess by wearing the necklace and jumping down from the cliff to the past that his beloved princess lives, bacause ther will be another princess in different time line (but in the same earth) travel back to her past every day but wearing the necklace come from the same timeline of his beloved princess will lead him to the time and time line that his beloved princess lives. And then he will go to the land of Wa to meet his beloved princess.
Hope that ones who like this drama will share opinions with me. From pwpmd@hotmail.com

I’ve just finish watching the show…I love all the main actors, but to me KNJ-SYR chemistry is stronger than SJS-SYR even though the show was bias to SYR-SJS relationship. To me Ari-Puyeoju love story is too easy, she was attracted to his noncholant attitude, while he, regardless what in surface, wanted to go into the Palace, intend to win the princess over.I think when the Princess gave herself to Ari she was confused between love & need and I think the person who truly loves her is Prince Kim Yoo Seok. He had the chance to kill her but he didn’t.

I agree with bjharm. The love she felt for Kang In Chul was what she felt for Ari. Though she traveled tru time for 1400 years ahead, what happen between her, Ari & KYS was only yesterday. Of cos her heart still aching for Ari. Or else how cud she trust completely a man who sold her. Compare to KIC, Fujiwara Tatsuji is a way better man. Not just becos he’s rich but he really fight to save her & love her unconditionally.

I think KIC didn’t jump the cliff with her becos first he didn’t 100% believe her,and even if he cares for her, it just not enuf to crazily jump off the cliff with her…and 2nd, it won’t guarantee that he will be gone to the past with her especially to the era long before his existance…

I guess that Tatsuji’s mom knew that the necklace has special power. A power that can give an eternity life to whoever that wore it, but unfortunately it will only bring sadness too since the stone was made from a mermaid tear. As to prevent the princess from returning to the pass, I believe she knew that if she returned to the past KYS wud do anything to win her heart including giving up his wealth, power & kingdom. Therefore instead of being royal majesty the Fujiwara is just another prominent family in Japan. And it happened that way too, cos in ep 20, KYS & Puyeoju sailed away to make a new life for them in another place.

Well actually I love the way the story ends. Of cos SJS fans won’t be happy but since I love both actors equally I’m not bias…I think after what he has gone tru Prince KYS worthy of Puyeoju’s love. He’s not a cold blooded murderer but juast a nother victim of war who try to avange the death of his family & the honour of his kingdom. He’s an honourable man who fight alongside his men unlike the princess’s father the king who ran away to save himself leaving his women & princesses to the enemy. KYS cud have thrown the princess to his men after having her but he didn’t even touch her. In the end I think Puyeoju shud be wif KYS…and in the end after getting to know him better, she’ll forgive him and eventually fall in love wif him…and Fujiwara Tatsuji is the descendant from both of them.

the only thing i didn’t like about this show is that they gave too much airtime to that sleazy club owner man and his bodyguards. in some episodes he had more airtime than the two leading men (what the hell??!!).

i would ALWAYS fast forward everytime his ugly ass would come on. his character was so uneccessary in my opinion.

I loved this story, but I really didn’t completely understand the ending. I thought I saw KIC jump off the cliff with the princess? Then I seen him still standing there, and I’m like “wth?”!

Then KIC says he’s going to meet the princess. Does that mean he’s going to jump as well? He had his backpack with him. Soooo confusing!! Does this mean there’s another season? I wish..

Although I know she went with KYS because of how Tatsuji was. But don’t you think she was kinda cruel? After all, he did kill her beloved Ari. Doesn’t she realize that KYS is NOT Tatsuji? Even twins don’t share the same personality! Feels like she betrayed her people, Ari, AND KIC. Then again, I guess she had no choice. Reality sucks, even if it’s in a drama.

Ferds – Don’t feel too bad. I fast forwarded through that AND when they showed Go Eun-bi. Whenever I watch dramas I never watch any part that involves “the other girl”. But as for the sleazy club owner, you are right that they showed him more than the 2 main guys. If they were trying to add comedy, I think the Princess handling the phone was plenty. ^^ Honestly, they should’ve added more of her getting used to technology.

My wife and I enjoyed this show. It was difficult to understand why KIC took so long to come to grips with his feelings for the Princess. The gangsters added comedy relief and I enjoyed their part in this series. There is much broken-hearted sadness which is to be expected when so many people cannot all have a single girl. The music was emotionally touching as well although a bit overplayed in my opinion.

I heard this drama’s ending went by what really happened, but even so I personally think they should’ve at least altered it because I did not like the idea of Princess Pu Yeo Ju marrying the guy who brought down her nation. It’s like choosing to side with the murderer that killed your family. Though it kinda dragged at certain parts, it’s enjoyable to watch Sung Yuri play a princess from the past trying to adapt to the future. I also liked the way she says things (based on subtitles) like “I cannot move from this position, withdraw from my presence.” when a guard tried to force her out of the hotel. The gang leader is not bad either.

This is another interestingly captivating story by Kim Ki Ho, besides What Happened In Bali. I can see So Ji Sup’s enormous potentiality as an actor who can deal successfully with various roles. I admire his flexibility in performing different aspects of the same role.
Kim Nam Jin did well his role as a rich man who gallantly showed his love to the ill-fated princess. His manliness is quite convincing.
Sung Yu Ri is so lovely in the role of the princess. She performed admiringly her role.
One can’t help being moved seeing the three of them desperately struggling freeing themselves from fate to end up as fated !
This drama shows a poetic side of reality. This is where it is interesting.

makes me realized that Thank God Fujiwara didn’t end up with the princess in the present future because if the princess go back to the past and then get together with General Kim Yu suk, it means that she will be his grandgrandgrandmother, which mean they related by blood.. it means that General Kim Yu suk did marry the princess and thats why fujiwara mother against his relationship with the princess because she’s relative by blood.. that is what I think..

This drama was very likely the worst one I have ever watched. The characters were unlikable, the story had the potential to be good, but the writers chose to try and make a comedy out of the situation, and it fell flat.

The princess was very unroyal and indecisive, the ‘villain’ was evil . . . why? this was never explained. Both of the men she was dealing with that were supposed to be in love with her were at best, immature and childish, and frankly I couldn’t care less about any of the issues these people had.

If the writers had kept the story in the past, not rushed the “romance” (which also fell flat; it looked more like a bad variant of Stockholm Syndrome than love to me), and made the viewer care about the personalities involved, and left out the random mob boss all together, maybe I would have enjoyed this drama more.

As it stands, I would never recommend this to anyone, even if they have time to kill.

….watching this drama for the 4th time & enjoying it everytime. Kang In Chul sure has a terrible foul temper. Not very much to my liking but So Ji Sob portrayed this character really well which showed his superb acting skill.
Sung YuRi was pretty good for a newbie (in acting) then, and I miss Kim Nam Jin…
Just one thing! It always bothers me whenever I look at the person acting as Kim Chun Chul (the gangster boss). He looks more like Lee Ki Young to me. Correct me if I’m wrong…. but definitely not Lee Chang Hoon as shown under the extended cast heading above. I recognised him as the guy who was obsessed with Baek Sung Joo in When A Man Falls In Love, yes?? Would appreciate it if someone could help me solve this puzzle (as who actually acted as Kim Chun Chul) …. …..

                  LOVING FOR A THOUSAND YEARS

                  A THOUSAND YEARS OF LOVE

Romance Fantasy

Aired : March 22, 2003- May 25,2003

Episodes: 20

Cast:

Sung Yu Ri - Princess Puyeo-ju

So Ji Sub - General Ari /Kang In Chul

Kim Nam Jim -General Fujiwara/Fujiwara Tasuji

Kim Sa Rang -Kum-Hwa /Go Eun Bi

Synopsis:

The story is about a princess who lived in the Bakjae Empire a thousand years ago. When her kingdom crumbles she goes on the run with her bodyguard Ari. The new conqueror of the kingdom sees her picture falls in love and orders her captured, and he personally pursues them. While in pursuit he ends up killing Ari and she throws herself off a cliff in grief. That alone would be a cool plot but there is much more. When she falls she lands in modern time 2003 and meets her two fated men reincarnated. One as a clothing designer of sorts (not yet successful), and the other an heir to a great fortune. One falls in love with her slowly causing her much pain , while the other becomes literally obsessed again by her portrait.

The triangle of the past resurfaces and a whole new adventure begins and not like anything the Princess could have imagined. Can she find her true love ? Will the story have a fairytale ending for her? You will have to watch the drama to get those answers.

Why I love this drama:

This was my first introduction to K-Drama fantasy. The time crossover was new to me and I truly love it in this drama , as I did in Rooftop Prince and many to come after. But you never forget your first( or so they say). The actors were young and so to me the drama was fresh and fun not like some of the more serious ones I had seen with these actors. I also loved the costumes, and the comedic aspect of the drama. It is just one of those dramas on my favorites list.

My final thoughts:

This drama does not have all the bells and whistles the new crossover fantasies have, technology has gotten so much better and special effects have also added a new dimension to our drama viewing now. But it was done well for that time period watching it now it is not as impressive as it was then. Mostly for the above mentioned reasons I still love the story and watch it when it rains sometimes ( to me it's symbolic) One of the things that intrigued me ( when I was doing my research) was that this drama was among two of the actors first dramas and while Sung Yu Ri and So Ji Sub went on to make many and are still making dramas to this day , Kim Nam Jim ( whose first drama this was) stopped making dramas in 2008 and only made a few movies since then.I wonder why? A thought for a new post.

I hope you will give it a try I believe 'dramacool' and ' Kissasia ' have it.

I hope you like my review and thanks for reading. As always I love sharing.
