Free Tutorials:

  • Codecademy -- Walks you through nice and slowly. Lots of hand holding, and if you're completely new to JavaScript, you probably won't remember much after running through this course. But it'll get you acquainted to the syntax and basic concepts.
  • Free Code Camp -- Easy to follow tutorials with a lot less hand holding than Codecademy. Between lessons are mini-challenges that don't exactly through you in the deep end but will certainly exercise your noggin. After the basic lessons, you will work up a mental sweat with the algorithmic challenges. Great site and resource!
  • -- Lots of free content as well as premium content that requires a subscription. Great site that covers a lot of JS frameworks including Angular, React, Node, etc. Has some great lessons on JS fundamentals, particularly useful lessons on Array methods and functional programming.

Paid Tutorials:

  1. JavaScript: Understanding the Weird Parts -- Anthony Alicea's very popular video course on Udemy. If you have a few bucks to spare, buy this course! Not for true beginners as you should know the basics already. This course is great for clearing up difficult JS concepts, such as 'this', closures, and higher order functions. I can't recommend this enough! (And no, I am not an affiliate collecting comission)
  2. Code School -- The video courses for vanilla JavaScript are quite good. Videos followed by exercises. More in depth than Codecademy but not any more challenging.
