Studio Policy

Payment Method

Payments can be made in the form of post-dated cheques or e-Transfer.

Number of Lessons

1. Weekly lessons: 32 (THIRTY-TWO) lessons are provided through the school year.

2. Bi-weekly lessons: 16 (SIXTEEN) lessons are provided through the school year.

Lesson fee

1. Per-lesson rates of 2025-2026 school year are as above.

2. There are 2 (TWO) instalments within each academic year on the following dates:

• September 1st - payment for 16 lessons (weekly students), or 8 lessons (bi-weekly students);

• January 1st - payment for 16 lessons (weekly students), or 8 lessons (bi-weekly students).

Administration Fee

1. A non-refundable $20 registration fee per family will be applied at registration.

Performance Fee

1. Performance fee will be use to cover the expenses involved (i.e. equipments, rental, etc.) in organizing studio recitals:

• $40/ student for families registering one student at the studio;

• $30/ student for families registering two or more students at the studio.

Instrument Rental or Purchase

         1. Wilder & Davis

            1. Students can contact the rental department of Wilder & Davis  or their online store.
               Their Beginner’s Guide provides useful information on how to select the correct size for beginning students.

         2. The Sound Post

            1. Students can also contact the rental department of The Sound Post or their online store .
               Their Guide for Violin Care & Maintenance provides useful information on how to care for your new instruments.

Excuse from Lessons

1. Students/ parents needs to inform the teach at least 24 hours prior to the lesson through email/ phone if they can not come to a lesson. It is parents and students responsibility to inform the teacher if they can’t come to a lesson even during the circumstances that no refund or no rescheduling will be made. Music education, like education in all other areas, requires respect to teacher, discipline and commitment.
   
   

2. Only excused lessons that are approved by the teacher will be rescheduled. No refund will be made if rescheduling is not successful.
   
   

3. It is recommended for students, who are  exhibit flu-like symptoms but feeling well enough to have lesson, to switch from in-person lesson to online lesson when their excuse from in-person lesson is made with-in 24 hours prior to lesson time.

1. Termination before October 1st - Paid tuition minus $100 will be returned.

2. Termination after October 1st - no refund will be made.

Parents and Siblings in Lessons

1. Parents are expected to pick up students after lessons on time. The teacher is not responsible for students after the end of the lesson.
   
   

2. Parents are expected to pick up students from our music studio. If the teacher is not sure about the arrival of the parents, the teacher has the right to keep the student in the studio premises for the student’s safety until the parents show up at the studio.
   
   

3. Student’s parents are allowed to observe lessons of their children - while it is recommended that older students should learn to take responsibility of their lessons and study, and to attend their lessons alone.
   
   

4. Parents are responsible to keep the students’ siblings behave well in the teacher’s premises.
   
   

5. Only siblings from the same family who are taking lessons are allow to enter the premises.

1. Two studio recitals will be held each academic year. It is an important part of music education and all students are expected to participate.
   
   

2. Students might be encouraged to participate in music festivals/ exams/ other performances if the teacher finds appropriate.
   
   

3. For Instrumental Study: Student has the responsibility to practice according to the instruction of the teacher, and to keep a detail record of his/her practice.

4.  Recommended lesson length and amount of practice time at home relative to the level of students:

5. For Theory Study: Student has the responsibility to study and complete the assignments given by the teacher before every class.
   
   

6. Progresses of individual students vary, depending on the amount of time and effort spent on practicing/ studying.

Recording

1. Audio and/ or visual recording during lesson for the student's practice is permitted, while the teacher has the right to restrict the distribution of such recordings.
