NOVA United offers women 50 years and above opportunities to improve their basketball skills and compete in 3 on 3 half-court basketball games and tournaments.  Players range in age from 50-78 and live in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and West Virginia.  Players have opportunities to play on teams and compete in local and out-of-town 3 on 3 tournaments in five year age groups. During the 2013 National Senior Games Basketball Tournament, the Classics won a bronze medal in the 70+ AA Flight, the Rebounders came in 6th place in the 65+ age group, Gold Mettle won a silver medal in the 60+ AA Flight and Triple Threat finished in 8th place in the 55+ age group.  Prior playing experience recommended.

7:00 - 9:00pm:  55+(SG)/60+(GM)  and 55+(TT) and 50+(RF)

The community center is located on Annandale Road just north of Route 50 (inside the Beltway).  From Route 50, go north on Annandale Road.  Turn right at first light into the James Lee Community Center parking lot.  Sign in at the front desk.  While facing the desk, turn left and walk to the end of the corridor to the gym.

Wanted - Gently Used Athletic Shoes and Soccer Cleats:  Bring your gently used athletic shoes and soccer cleats to your Friday practice or make special arrangements with Helen White for pick-up.  By doing so, you will make room in your closets, reduce landfill trash, and support a micro-finance organic farming project in Ghana run by the More Foundation.

Skills Clinics and Strategy Sessions:  Four one-hour sessions for senior women who want to learn and/or improve their skills and knowledge of how to play the 3v3 game.  Register by June 11 at https://registration.arlingtonva.us or print the form below.  Sessions begin June 18.  

    7pm:  Learn and/or refine basic basketball skills

    8pm:  For players who have good basic skills and want to learn how to play the 3v3 half-court game, including the pick and roll.

3v3 Fall Intramural Program:  This 10 week program starts in late September.  Games are scheduled at 7pm and 8pm.  Contact Helen to be added to a distribution list for the program.
