River Conditions

posted 25 Feb 2015, 06:03 by Paul Williamson

We have been monitoring the weather and water conditions at the course over the last three days (and will continue to do so). At the moment the Met Office are showing the weekend weather as having improved slightly over their prediction of a few days ago.

We are conscious that many clubs will also be watching the forecasts and assessing the risks associated with travelling. At the moment the event will go ahead as planned; the local weather forecast has improved slightly and river levels are holding steady within their 'normal' level range.

We will post an assessment of the conditions at the course in the early afternoon of each day between now and the event. We will inspect the course early on Friday afternoon and will post our final assessment on the website by 16:00 on Friday afternoon.

River conditions - Friday 21st

As of today the river is in excellent condition, so it all now hangs on the weather over the next nine days. We will let clubs know with as much notice as possible if there are any changes to the event as a result of the weather.

There's lots of useful stuff on the Documents page: as well as the all-important safety information, there are the the draws for the three divisions and the Competitors' Instructions, which all competitors should read.
In addition, there is a coxes' guide to steering the Head of the Trent course, and an important document describing how trailers should be arranged in the Forest Car Park.

The 2012 Head of the Trent is only six weeks away; British Rowing Online Entries are opening next week. With a near-record entry last year, and safety restrictions on numbers, you are encouraged to get entries in sooner rather than later.

Draw published

The draw is now published on the Documents page. Where there were insufficient entries to form an event, where possible we have moved crews into a higher status event. Where this has not been possible, the entry remains in the draw indicated as Time Only. If any crews so marked would like to scratch please contact us as soon as possible.

Finally - thank you all for your entries, hope to see you on Sunday!
