Cover Letter and Resume

I have been a professional bookkeeper for over nineteen years. I currently do the books for 12 small businesses; two veterinary clinics, a consulting company, nursery & gift shop, a general contractor, a Pilates studio, a firewood delivery company, a catering company, an attorney, a beauty salon and an artist. Each business is unique and requires different levels of service; from being responsible for all aspects of accounting and payroll, to account reconciliation once a month, to year-end clean up only. Six businesses I work from my home office and six I work onsite. Since I am a sole proprietor and small business myself, I understand the needs of a small business and I am very flexible to suit your needs. As you can see, I have a very diverse base of clients that not only keeps me on my toes, but also teaches me new skills everyday.

I am experienced in all aspects of "keeping the books." This includes being responsible for reconciliation of bank accounts, preparing monthly financial statements; including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cash flow reports, AR's, AP's, and account reviews. I work with CPA's on financial statements, year-end tax planning, year-end financial statement packages and posting year-end adjustments.

Additionally, I maintain all personnel payroll files (wages, deductions, benefits, 401K, vacation/sick leave) as well as process bi -weekly payroll.

In addition to my bookkeeping business I give back to my community by serving on the boards of my children's school's PTA's. I served two terms as treasurer of the Kensington Hilltop Elementary School PTA, one term as the vice president,  two terms as the president and
three terms as the financial auditor. I also served two terms as the treasurer at Portola Middle School and I am currently serving as the secretary at Korematu Middle School (formerly Portola) and I am the treasurer of the Student Activity Fund of El Cerrito High School.

I am also a notary public and certified document signing agent.  My hourly rate is $50-$60 per hour. I'm confident that my experience will save you money!
