Norwich Malayalee Association (NAM) was formed on 22nd April 2006 by people from Kerala, South India who live in  Norfolk mainly in Norwich. The organisation has approximately one hundred members and seven management committee members. Most of the members include doctors and nurses working in the local NHS and IT professionals. As a group we are all volunteers and NAM is a non-profit making organisation. The main objectives of our association are

 

  • To promote an awareness of the culture and language of Kerala.
  • To promote friendship and community spirit within the Malayalee community.
  • To provide a forum that enables our children to learn about the culture of Kerala and its native language – Malayalam.
  • To organise religious and traditional festivals such as Onam, Christmas, Easter etc. Onam is a festival celebrated throughout Kerala in the month of August/September- Kerala’s harvest festival)
  • To promote racial diversity in Norfolk.
  • To enhance social integration with the local population of Norfolk.
