This is a lovely walk with a variety of footpaths, quiet roads and green lanes.
Starting at The Blue Lion walk up Houghton Lane, over the Wissey, turn right at the t junction. Walk along the quiet road until you come to a wooded green lane on the left, this will take you up to the clearing where Houghton on the Hill would have been. Follow the wide field edge to another green lane on your right.
Down this hedge lined path is the beautifully restored St Mary's church.
Walk down the aggregate path, admiring the view of the wind farm in front of you and views over to South Pickenham on your left. Cross over the road, turning right to join the Peddars Way. The path follows Houghton Lane, on the other side of the hedge, before turning left at the sign to have the turbines in front of you again. After turning right at the bottom of the field, follow the field edge until you come across a dog friendly stile. This field often has horses in it. You cross the River Wissey here, then following the field edge to the right to another dog friendly stile. Veering right towards North Pickenham, a dog leg path takes you passed St Andrew's school and its mini turbine. Follow the roadside path back into the village, at the Manor Farm t junction turn right admiring the village sign ahead with The Blue Lion a little further.
