Plant Centre

The Plant Centre is stocked with good quality, locally grown plants offering a constantly changing range of seasonally available hardy shrubs, herbaceous perennials, (home grown) trees, and bedding . For plants not available on the day, we have a large catalogue that we can source from at short notice. We have an undercover area containing statuary, ceramic pots and most plant related sundries are also available.

LOCAL PLANTS

Our farming business is based on horticulture and that includes production of nursery plants. Our aim is that over 90% of the plants in the Garden Centre will be West Country Grown. In addition we hope that over 50% of the plants will be grown within 1 mile. This should give customers the confidence that our plants are accustomed to the local environment as well as supporting a sustainable and thriving local rural economy.

GROWING MEDIA

We carry a range of composts and other growing media.  Peat based products are by Godwins, a family owned company on the Somerset Levels.  Peat-free products are by Vital Earth.  Peat-free composts are becoming more and more popular and are now as consistent and compedative with similar peat based equivilents.

FRUIT & VEGETABLES

Fruit and vegetable plants have proved very popular in recent years as customers seek to garden productively.  As well as the well known varieties, we stock some of the more exotic super-fruits that have been well publicised in the press.

PLANT PROTECTION AND FERTILISERS

We stock a small but comprehensive range of plant related sundries and can give advice on plant protection and plant fertilisers based on professional experience from the farm and nursery.

POTS AND CONTAINERS

We carry a range of traditional terracotta pots as well as a changing display of more modern glazed pots.  Tubs made from old oak barrels are popular and we have a new range of wooden planters in various styles, that are made locally from heavy and durable materials.
