May 15th, 2010 - Berry Lake Ice Out in Underhill
Learn about Eurasian Water Milfoil control and other invasives at Berry Lake from top experts as well as gypsy moth and new insect threats.  Program begins at 8:30.  Click on link for details.

September 18th, 2010: Monarch Tagging at Garden of the Fox Cities 
Learn about the life cycle of the monarch and purpose for tagging.  Then be prepared to go into local fields to capture, sex, and tag monarchs.  Nets are available.  Please register by Monday, September 12 by calling the Gardens at 920-993-1900.
 
 
 
 
October 23rd, 2010:  Whooping Crane and Wolf Howl Program at Necedah Wildlife Refuge
Bus will leave Appleton 11:30 a.m. and return approximately 11:00 p.m.  Whooping Crane program begins at 2:00 followed by a bus tour of the grounds.  Dinner will be served at the facility to allow more time for participants to socialize, hike, or get some birding snapshots before the 6:30 wolf howling program begins.  Cost for food and bus trip will be dependent on number of participants. 
 
Estimated price - $17 for forty attendees; $21 for thirty

  Join us the second Saturday of each month, beginning one-half hour before daybreak to count and monitor eagles along the Fox.  Monitoring sessions last two hours.  Contact newsletter@newalliance.org if interested in monitoring.
 

 
 
 
February 26th, 2011:  Porcupine Ecology Program on Snowshoes
 Join wildlife biologist, Britt Searles of Sandhill Wildlife Refuge, as she shares the myths and facts about this unique woodland creature.  An indoor program will be held in the morning to introduce participants porcupine ecology.  The afternoon will be spent snowshoeing into porcupine habitat to look for dens and view 'porkeys' dining on bark.

Learn more about the amazing monarch butterfly and its journey to Mexico.  Catch, tag, and release migrating monarchs!  Program begins at 1:00.  Cost $5 for adult and $3 for children.
