5. Preteam starts June 17 - In Water Helpers Needed!

Practice will begin June 17 for both AM and PM preteam groups. Please come at your assigned date/ time for evaluation. If you did not sign up for evaluation yet, please let us know or stop by North Creek to sign up for an evaluation. Once evaluations are completed, you will receive a separate email with pre-team practice times.

Also - in water helpers for pre-team are needed - especially in the evening when groups are very full! Please reply or email Jen Hammond at if you are interested in being an in-water helper this year. Reminder that doing this earns you SSL hours!! In water helpers should be at least 12 years old and willing to commit to regularly attending and helping with pre-team practices.

6. Team Help Wanted

The Neptunes team and swim meets are run almost entirely by parent volunteers. The only paid positions are for the coaching staff and lifeguards. We ask all parents to help with at least 3 meets or more, and most positions require little to no experience. We are particularly in need of an A-meet Rep and a B-meet Rep. These positions help the Team Reps (Jen and Kristi) organize and run the A and B meets. Let us know if you can help! We are also in need of officials! A couple of parents have stepped up and will be trained as stroke & turn officials (THANK YOU) but we could always use more. These positions do require certification and training (one session - usually about 2 hrs), but you do not need to be an expert swimmer yourself to get qualified. If you are able, please register here

7. Lifeguards Needed

If you are a lifeguard, or know a lifeguard looking to pick up some extra paid hours, please let us know. We'll have a sign up sheet available soon and will need 2 lifeguards for each AM and PM practice, starting June 17, as well as all home meets. Email or

8. Looking Ahead

Saturday, June 8 - All Comers Meet @ Lake Marion

A sign up sheet will be available at June 3 practice. This is the only meet that swimmers must pay to swim - $2 per event or $3 for deck entry.

More details to come....

9. Jason Lezac Clinic

Jason is an Olympic Gold Medalist for Team USA and he is conducting swim clinics around the country and Lake Marion, along with North Creek and Whetstone, has secured a date (Thursday July 11th at Stedwick) for him to do a clinic for interested swimmers. You can watch Jason swim the anchor leg in the Men’s 4X100 Free Relay at the 2008 Olympic games that set a World Record and Olympic Record that still stands today. Jason’s swim is also one of the all-time fastest relay splits. It’s worth a watch even if you are not interested in the clinic. The video can be found on YouTube: The fee for this event is $50.00/swimmer. This is not a fundraiser for the team. The money goes to Mr. Lezak as this is his per swimmer fee. Please email or if you are interested in this offering.
