Program Calendar 2013-2014

Unless otherwise indicated, all monthly meetings are held at the Northborough Senior Center at  119 Barefoot Rd.   The business meeting begins at 6:30 PM followed by the presentation or workshop.  

All meetings are free and open to the public.  Some workshops will have fees.  These fees will be announced two weeks before the event.

“Edith Wharton” as portrayed by Nancy Riggs.
Edith Wharton was a garden designer as well as Pulitzer prize winning author. In fact, before she became a noted novelist she co-authored Italian Villas and The Gardens. which may be considered the first garden book published in America. Hear Nancy speak about Edith’s life at The Mount, her home in Lennox, MA., as well as her career as a prolific author.

“Gardening is Murder” by Neal Sanders
Neal Sanders is the author of six mysteries, several of which use garden club settings. He writes the “the Principal Undergardener” blog which addresses gardening as a non-gardener who loves gardens. His illustrated
presentation is a “husband’s point of view” of gardening filled with humor and insight into the world of gardening.

“Flemish Floral Arrangements”
Diane Guldner will discuss the historical components of Flemish Floral Design as she assembles an arrangement typical of the ones created in the
15th-16th century. These beautiful arrangements were used by bulb growers to advertise their wares and were often captured by Flemish painters of this period.
