Repertoire

Our repertoire is wide-ranging to suit a variety of musical tastes.

A typical concert will have two parts: one comprising a major work and the other comprising compelling solo performances and songs on a theme.

As an example of the variety of works we perform, during the 2006/2007 season we gave voice to:

  • Purcell - King Arthur
  • A cycle around Britain
  • W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan - Trial by Jury

We have a large range of music in our library which may be borrowed by members. The material for our concerts is subject to discussion, but the committee is always open to new ideas. These include acappella songs, baroque and classical works, new arrangements of familiar songs from musicals and popular pieces such as Adele’s cover of ‘Make you Feel my Love’ and Ellie Goulding’s version of ‘Your Song’ arranged for four parts.

All choir members are given assistance in developing their voices and may learn by ear or sight-reading. We also welcome enthusiasm to sing a solo or duet – our Musical Director and Accompanist provide support and encouragement to enable any member of the choir to do this.
