Norman Cross Depot
The Gallery is located in the restored stables of the Norman Cross Depot, a purpose-built prisoner of war camp constructed in 1797 to house enemy soldiers and sailors captured in the Napoleonic War.
Nearby is a bronze eagle erected in memory to the prisoners that lost their lives during the 19 years of the Depot's existence.
In 2009 the Depot featured in an episode of Time Team.
The Friends of Norman Cross exists to remember and record the details of the Depot, its prisoners and those that guarded them. Detailed historical information can be found on their website at http://www.friendsofnormancross.org.uk.
