October 2019: Francis Reynolds "Recover the Pieces Lost"

Saturday 5th October until 2nd November 2019

Norman Cross Art Gallery is excited to be hosting Francis Reynold's fourth solo exhibition. These paintings are a new body of work that explores the traditions of figurative painting, executed in the artist's well known style and placed within a contemporary context.

Francis explores these traditions using scale, colour and mark-making; producing larger than life canvases together with smaller works, all of which can be said to evoke connotations from an audience.

Reynold's practice can be seen to be quite destructive in as far as process. However, it can be said that the passive/aggressive nature of the paintings lends themselves to the very nature of the human condition.
Reynold's outcomes strive to question and reinvigorate the subject; its historical and contemporary context. Together with consolidating ideas of deconstruction; an act of taking apart and rebuilding. This may also highlight the deconstruction of conventions and what is expected from representational painting.

Gallery Open to the Public – Saturday 10.00am until 5.00pm
Other times by appointment only.
