We are a new, hands-on research group focusing on nano science. We design and build new and improved research tools for specific scientific purposes, which give us a competitive edge over commercial instruments broadly available. Our group’s expertise lies in nanotechnology, producing nanofibers and nanoparticles for energy, biology, defense, pharmaceutical or many other applications.

  • School-funded EPSRC DTP PhD studentships available NOW! Deadline for applications is 28 February. Only UK citizens are eligible to apply. Please apply if you have outstanding track record (e.g. first class degree and/or publications).
  • New Ph.D. opportunity: fully funded positions available for doing Ph.D. in biosensors. Only UK citizens are eligible to apply. Please send your CV to Dr. Radacsi by 1st August if you are interested.

  • The CSC/University of Edinburgh scholarship is now open for 2017/18 applications. Deadline is 1 February 2017.
  • The Principal's Career Development PhD Scholarship program is now open for applicants. It's open to UK/EU/international applicants. Deadline is 1 February 2017.
  • The Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship is open now open for applicants. It's open to UK/EU/international applicants. Deadline is 1 February 2017. This scholarship is designed to attract to attract high quality overseas research students to Edinburgh.
  • The Carnegie-Caledonian PhD Scholarship is now open. Applicants with a first class degree from a Scottish university should apply. Deadline is 14 February 2017.
  • The DTP PhD Scholarship is now open for UK applicants. Applicants residing in the UK for at least 3 years are also eligible. Deadline is 28 February 2017.
  • Dr. Radacsi will deliver 2 talks at the AIChE meeting in San Francisco (13-18 November). 
  • The fully funded Ph.D. position in the area of solid-state battery and fuel cell fabrication has been filled. However, exceptionally strong candidates from the UK should still apply, as there might be funding for them. Applications for self-funded post-doctoral research associates and early stage faculty are also welcome!
  • Our paper about using electric fields for separations of solid/solute mixtures got accepted in Angewandte Chemie (Impact factor: 11.7)! Download it from here.
  • Dr. Radacsi will be recruiting students in China! E-mail us if you have a good chance for a CSC scholarship, and want to meet Dr. Radacsi in person. Dates and places of the recruitment: 24 and 25 October: Tianjin University; 27 October: Xiamen University; 28 October: South China University of Technology (Guangzhou), 30 October: HKUST (Hong Kong)
  • Dr. Radacsi will be visiting VISTEC in Rayong, Thailand on 17th October, and Petronas University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between 19-21 October. The purpose of the visit is recruitment and setting up research collaborations. 
  • New opening: A fully funded Ph.D. position is available (only for UK/EU nationalities) in the area of artificial skin fabrication. This is a joint project with EMPA, Switzerland (part of the ETH domain), and 50% of the time the research will be performed in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Send your CV to Dr. Radacsi if you feel you are interested and are a good match.
  • Self-funded students from China are welcome to apply for a Ph.D. position in the field of nanostructured batteries, fuel cells, or 3D printing organs. There is a CSC/University of Edinburgh scholarship available that can fully fund the program. It's not open for 2017/18 applications, but should be open within a few months. Please note that it's very competitive!
  • Our paper about microwaves vs. conventional heating got accepted in ChemSusChem! 
  • Dr. Norbert Radacsi will be traveling to Europe in June 2016. He is attending the ELEN2016 conference in France.
  • A fully funded Ph.D. position is available immediately in the area of solid-state battery and fuel cell fabrication. The nano-structured electrode and electrolyte materials will be produced using 3D   nanoprinting and electrospinning techniques. The project is focused on targeting improvements in battery and fuel cell performance and safety. A motivated experimentalist is sought, who has interest in nano-materials for energy applications.
