## Conditional Format Vlookup

I've been trying to do a conditional format of a cell based on a VLOOKUP and a Search for a Color Abbreviation in the Description.

I have Order Numbers in Column A (Sheet "Orders").
I highlighted the entire column and selected a conditional format based on a formula.
The formula that I entered matches the Order Number from Worksheet "InfoDetail" (Also in Column A) and it does a 2
Column Array Search for the text "BLA" in Column B (It stands for Black).
The Conditional Format will color fill the cell (In this case Black with White Font.

I'm trying something like this but it doesn't seem to be recognized:

=SEARCH(BLA",VLOOKUP(A2,InfoDetail!\$A\$2:\$B\$3582,2,FALSE))

## Keys to the Problem Conditional Format Vlookup

Hi,

Try this

1.
In range I1:I4, enter WHI, BLA, CIT and CHA respectively
2.
Click on cell C2 and go to Home > Conditional formatting > New Rule > Use a formula to determine which cells to format.  In the formula bar there, enter this formula

=MATCH(TRUE,ISNUMBER(SEARCH(\$I\$1:\$I\$4,VLOOKUP(C2,'Order Details'!\$A\$2:\$B\$3582,2,0))),0)=4

3.
Click on Format > Fill > Grey
4.
Click on OK > Apply
5.
Repeat all steps above.  In step 2, change the 4 to 1 and in step 3, choose colour as Black/White

Hope this helps.
