Building the Future with Community Health Information (BFCHI)

Western Illinois University is working with regional libraries and regional health and service organizations to address the health information needs in two counties in west central Illinois (Henderson and McDonough Counties).  The Western Illinois University  Libraries have developed partnerships with 10 organizations which represent unique aspects of its community life and to provide “train the trainer” programs to library staff and health professionals and educational programs to the general community demonstrating and promoting NLM’s MedlinePlus services.

Did You Know…

Anyone with access to the internet or a local library can utilize the Medline Plus website?  It’s easy, just visit http://medlineplus.gov/  In addition, this site also provides over 165 interactive tutorial slide shows with sound and pictures.  It contains various videos on actual surgical procedures.  MedlinePlus.gov is the premier website for all of health care questions or concerns.  where you will be able to select from over 800 health related topics, review your prescription drugs or herbal supplements, access the medical encyclopedia and dictionary, and read about current health care issues in the news.
