Girl Scouts of Northern NJ honors local volunteers

GARFIELD — Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey recently held its Adult Recognition Program at The Royal Manor in Garfield. The event honored more than 1,000 volunteers across northern New Jersey.

The Appreciation Pin, given to those volunteers and leaders performing beyond the expectations of the position, was awarded to Vesna Dan, of Sparta, and Debra Nydam, of Vernon.

Serving their communities in lead volunteer capacities, the Outstanding Service Team Member award was given to Leslie Bernard-Glick and Dawn DeMattheis, of Vernon.

The Volunteer of Excellence award recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while providing girls with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This award was given to Judy Youngs, of Hampton Township, and Jessica Kruegel, of Vernon.

The Rookie of the Year award is given to exceptional Girl Scout leaders who have exemplified Girl Scout values in their first or second year of volunteering. Tina Williams, of Stillwater, and Kristine Carollo, of Vernon, received this honor.

Blanche Bender, of Vernon, was honored for 35 years of Girl Scout membership. Debbie Redmiller, of Newton, and Cathy Ragnetti, of Sparta, were honored for 30 years of Girl Scout membership.

Honored for 20 years of

membership was Barbara Meggiolaro, of Vernon. Laura Bugay, of Andover, Stephanie Pizzulo, of Lafayette, and Dale DiPietro, of Vernon, reached 15 years of membership.
