My Progress Reports

Every Friday, I will post a report of the progress on my Senior Thesis during the week so far. Here's an overview of where I am at the moment for background:

I have narrowed down the focus of my topic to look at information security , information theft, and the impact of hacking and identity theft. The paper and presentation will look at this topic through two different lenses. The paper will take more of a global perspective, looking at businesses, governments, and societies. This will address large-scale issues such as the safety of online finance and the impact of "hacktivists" like the WikiLeaks crew. The presentation will be more personal -- a short movie intended to instruct viewers on how to keep their personal information secure on the Web.

I'm still not certain what I'll do for the project portion. I have ideas floating around in my head which work with passwords, and novel methods of creating strong passwords and strong methods of user identification. The project will most likely be created with JavaScript and embedded on this site.

Check back on Friday for the first thrilling installment of My Progress Reports!
