    The New Jersey Historical Society is a state wide non-profit historical museum and library. The          museum explores New Jersey from a social, cultural and economical perspective. It is the oldest cultural museum in New Jersey, founded in 1845. The museum preserves and collects political, social, economic, and cultural artifacts from New Jersey. There are three educational exhibits that explore different aspects of New Jersey. 

Membership to the NJ Historical Society varies in price. Seniors,  Students, and Educator membership costs $25.00.

This membership includes discounts to Newark Downtown Restaurants
, reduced admissions, 10% discounts, special mailing and invitations, access to the research library, reciprocal benefits at many other  museums in the U.S., discounts on field trips, and copies of the New Jersey History; the museums scholarly journal.

Additional memberships include other benefits at an escalated price.

The New Jersey Historical Society is dedicated to providing an educational experience for all members and visitors. Teachers are encouraged to visit this museum for class field trips and research projects.
