I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Florida State University. I worked here with Prof. T N Krishnamurti, and currently working with Prof. Vasubandhu Misra. My primary research is aimed towards understanding tropical climate and its variability, with a particular focus on the Indian monsoon. Despite the fact that billions of people are dependent upon the vagaries of monsoon over the Indian region, there is no established theory that explains the observed variability in monsoon. I try to understand the variability in different timescales, intraseasonal to multidecadal, while combining theories, observational studies and numerical simulations. Extreme precipitation events are also one of the focus of my study.

Research Interests:

Tropical Climate Dynamics and climate modeling

Large Scale Circulation

Indian Monsoon

Intraseasonal and Interannual Variability, Intraseasonal Oscillations

Decadal and Multidecadal Variability
