the moon is vacationing over the Jefferson Memorial

dressed brilliantly in light    the same light as the Capitol    the same
shine from within    entitlement quotient is high     soaring above the cameras    a great untouchable thing     monument built by man’s    eyes instead of hands     grow the moon glorious    up and away    the scaffolding settling    into thousands    blades of grass    teenagers with their mouths hung open    rungs of ladders dismantled    shade and dusk     volleyball nets     tied up    the moon     is on the docket    we will buy it    from each other    we will steal it    for a plaque    the moon is oblivious     on honeymoon
grab the rope    quick
