WELCOME TO LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY LIBRARY (LIUB)
This guide is intended as a starting point and highlights the most important information we think you may find useful.
THE PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL LIBRARY
- Four branch libraries of which two are located in Linköping; Campus Valla library (Science, Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences) and Health Sciences Library. Norrköping Campus Library is located in Norrköping and Byggmästare John Mattsons library in Stockholm.
RESOURCES PROVIDED BY THE LIBRARY
The library provides a wealth of information 24 h per day. You have full access to over 100 000 e-books, 14 000 online journals and 130 databases through your LiU card, both on and off campus. Use our proxy bookmarklet to get easier access to journals when you are off campus. Add the link LiUB Proxy to your bookmarks from this page. When you want to get access to a resource you found just click the bookmarklet and the page will be reloaded through our proxy.
You can find books located at Linköping University library in our catalogue. The catalogue is also an access point for e-books and online encyclopedias. You can also look at eachvendor's e-book stock.
Through the catalogue you can also reserve books that are due and request books from other LiUB branches. If the book you are looking for isn’t in our stock you can request aninterlibrary loan free of charge.
LiU's institutional archive, DiVA, collects published research made at LiU. In many cases there is a link to the full text. DiVA is a collaboration between several Swedish universities.
This is a good starting point to search for scientific publications, because UniSearch is not a single database, but a tool that search for relevant publications in most of the library's resources, regardless of format, i.e. books and articles are displayed together but is easy to distinguish. It is and easy and quick tool to use, with one interface for all vendors.
In order to find scholarly/academic articles you can use our databases. An excellent starting point for finding suitable databases is the subject guides. The aim of the subject guide is to centralize relevant search tools within a subject or topic.
To access articles use the link or other fulltext-links (e.g. PDF-files) located next to the relevant article.
Here you will find electronic and print journals available at the library. If you can’t access an article you are looking for use the Journal list to find the Journal where the relevant article has been published in.
SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE LIBRARY
It means quantitative studies of scientific publications. Bibliometric analyses are used among other things to complement internal and external evaluations of research fields and in international ranking of universities. Do you or your research group have questions about bibliometrics? Send an email to the bibliometric group at Linköping University Library for a discussion on how they can help you.
To simplify referencing management, there are several tools, reference management software available. With them you can collect, organize and present your references. We offer introductions in how to use reference management software like EndNote and Mendeley on regular basis, to book a time use our form.
These are issues which are often clouded in confusion. Within LiU Library’s Department of Publishing Infrastructure we have an expertise in copyright and plagiarism issues and are more than willing to answer questions and provide guidance. So please don´t hesitate to contact us.
Linköping University Electronic Press (LiU E-Press) provides an electronic publishing service for Linköping University. They help you to publish and register your articles electronically. They also give support with others questions regarding publishing e.g. how to determine whether a journal is serious or not.
