About Us

We Know Your Plants, Because We Grow Your Plants!

That's right, we grow nearly all our plants from seed or rooted cuttings on site at the greenhouse. So if you've got questions, we've got answers ...with a smile of course. We are members of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers and A Founding Member of AmericanHort.

NightCrawler Gardens LLC is a family owned greenhouse, specializing in vegetable and bedding plants, perennials and herbs. Jason and Sheri started out with field grown sunflowers in 1995. They were both in school at Ohio University, Athens, and would drive to Jason's hometown of Pickerington to work on a friend's 4 acres. On Friday evenings they would often be cutting flowers late into the night to get ready for Saturday's farm market in Worthington. Using their headlights to pick, they called the farm NightCrawler Gardens. The name is also a tribute to the earthworm, a true friend to farmers and gardeners, and a sure sign of soil health.

For several years after college they rented a farm in Pataskala, and continued to grow flowers in the summer while working "real" jobs in the off-season. One of their dreams came true when they were able to build their first greenhouse on Jason's parents land in Pleasantville, Ohio in 2003.

The first summer was great. Local support and word of mouth did wonders and they met lots of new neighbors. The plants and people kept them very busy. Who knew that one person could spend the entire day watering? In the spring that most often was Jason. Mike and Marty (aka Dad and Mom) have now "retired" and work full-time seasonally here at the greenhouses.  Sheri teachers art in Pickerington Schools. And, our family has expanded as Jason and Sheri became parents to twins!

No one knows what happened to Jason…

Oh yeah, he’s still here, still planting, still growing flowers.

Many years of working hard at the business has allowed Jason and Sheri to become landowners themselves. And we all know that more land just means more work. All of which couldn't be done without the help of family. It's common to hear a shout for "Mom" or "Dad" at the greenhouse. Both Sheri and Jason's parents, other family members and friends can be found planting, re-stocking, helping customers, and doing whatever is needed around the greenhouse.

In 2010 a second greenhouse was added nearly tripling our growing space.  The exciting news for 2014 was that we added yet another greenhouse nearly doubling our space once again to provide growing areas for wholesale production.  This past winter we added our fourth greenhouse.

Each summer has been greater than the last.

After twelve seasons, NightCrawler Gardens LLC continues to grow and expand its selection for all of you. Our hope is that you will find new and exciting plants each year when you return. The personal service and high quality will remain, but with even more varieties and choices.

The number of friends and neighbors continues to grow as the “word” about NightCrawler Gardens LLC continues to spread. Our thanks to all of you folks who have supported us and told your friends and family about our quality and service! See you in “our garden”.
