Described in Stepping Stones of Ungava and Labrador, and in his later book On Polar Tides, Nigel's first trip began at Iqaluit on Baffin Island and reached the remote tip of Labrador, finishing at Killinek. His second "Stepping Stones" journey with Kristin Nelson began at Kuujjuaq in Ungava Bay and finished at Nain in Labrador.
