Last moments of...
2016
Grandfather’s younger brother 🙏 :
🙏 2011 Mom’s cousin: He was hospitalized with a tumor or something bad inside his stomach. We visited him at the hospital and he was in a coma. My mom suggested we pray and chant ‘Nam mo Amitabha Buddha’ for him so we did together. After a couple minutes, a nurse came over and told us they just gave him lots of pain-killer and therefore he couldn’t hear or understand anything we said. I translated this to mom but she insisted on chanting for him. Nurse gave up after a couple times, I did stop chanting but my mom kept on and insisted to call his sons in to keep up [it was early Sunday and I think they were going to sleep in or let up a little after several weeks spent in the hospital.] I was feeling sorry for both my uncle and his sons and a little ashamed at my mom’s determination but later that day we were all glad she persisted. During this time, my uncle tossed and turned and waved his hands about (mostly tried to hold on to something in the air); I thought his eyes opened extra big although unseeing thru us.
We left the hospital to visit my grandfather and a few hours later on the road, we were told my uncle passed away. We’d not have left if we had more experiences with a person’s last moments or read signs of dying - that was our first experience seeing someone died.
