The NIE mGeo app allows students to geo-tag data like text, photos & videos onto a shared map. Students may not remember where they collected their data after they return from excursions or field trips. This app helps them to stitch everything together to save time and effort in sorting data. When students upload their findings, the artefacts become part of a shared map and database.

Project Page Description:
  • About Project: The purpose of the mGeo app is to allow our students to collect information easily when they are out for their excursions or field trips. They no longer have to carry multiple devices like camera, GPS receiver, and note taking devices with them on site. Upon their return, they no longer need to spend time and effort in sorting the data or trying to figure out where the location of a photo is. When the data is uploaded to the server, students can learn from each other by accessing the shared database and post comments.
  • This project was initially created for the Geographers. However, it can also be used by others who do fieldwork like the Historians.
