Possibly the most varied work a carpenter can be involved with were British regional theatres. A combination of small studio work, full stage productions, Pantos, Shakespeare, Theatre-In-Education and the company's Outreach work created different challenges, working with different designers and different casts for each show. I worked at Leicester Haymarket and Coventry Belgrade Theatre as carpenter, as well as some freelance work nationally from the mid-Eighties to about 1997. I also worked for the Grand Theatre, London, Ontario in 2003-2004.
My theatre work has been as a carpenter. Below are two images of a set I made for the Festival Of Classics, Oakville, Ontario, an outdoors production.
Fountain and patio
One of eight identical free standing village wall sections -easy to move, yet stable on uneven ground
Each section was constructed with a slight curve, which helped stability.
