I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I earned my PhD in Finance at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. I also hold an MBA and a Master of Science in Finance from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.

My research is in empirical corporate finance, with a focus on corporate governance and shareholder activism. I study the role of institutional investors in improving firm governance and performance. My publications examine the incentives of large shareholders to monitor firm management and the effects of institutional trading in the emergence of hedge fund activism. My more recent work investigates how peer firms respond to the threat of activism and how hedge fund activists foster mergers and acquisitions.
