I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I earned my PhD in Finance at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. I also hold an MBA and a Master of Science in Finance from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.

My primary research area is empirical corporate finance, with focus on corporate governance and shareholder activism. My publications study the incentives of large shareholders to monitor firm management and the role of equity holder coordination in private equity issuance. My more recent work investigates the role of institutional trading in the emergence of hedge fund activism and how peer firms respond to the threat of activism. My latest project studies how activist hedge funds foster mergers and acquisitions.
