Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral?

Many patients are referred by their GP, but it is not essential that you visit them first.

Can I claim via my health insurance plan?

Yes. Bledlow Ridge Osteopaths are registered with all the major health insurance companies, including specialist status with Bupa and Axa PPP. You are recommended to contact your insurance company before you begin treatment, to confirm your level of cover.

Do I need further investigations?

In some cases further investigations might be required, such as X-rays, MRI scans, blood tests etc. Should this be the case, we will advise you on an appropriate referral.

How long will it take me to get better?

Your rate of recovery will depend on several factors including your age, general health, life-style, working habit and how long you have experienced pain. We will always endeavour to give you an indication of treatment duration during your first consultation.

Where can I park?

Parking is available on site.

What clothing should I wear?

To allow us to complete a full structural assessment, you may be asked to remove some of your outer clothing, depending on where you are experiencing discomfort. You may prefer to wear loose gym clothing/shorts. During a spinal examination you may be asked to undress to your underwear, in order to assess your posture and mobility.  You are always welcome to have a chaperone present, should you wish.

Can I contact you for advice?

Making a decision on which treatment modality is appropriate for your complaint is sometimes bewildering for people who have not experienced musculoskeletal problems in the past. As such we are always happy to discuss any of these concerns before you make an appointment.

Coronavirus Covid-19

We are following government advice and requirements for healthcare practices regarding infection control and personal protective equipment, during the coronavirus outbreak.

Treatment tables are sanitised between all consultations, and all hard surfaces in the clinic are cleaned hourly during the course of the day - all with hospital grade sanitisers.

During this period we ask that you wait in your vehicle outside, rather than using the waiting room, should you arrive early, where you will be collected at the time of your appointment.

We would appreciate you wearing a face mask, if you are able to do so, as a consideration to other patients.
