Nicholas L. Boyd was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the union of Anthony and Ernestine Boyd. His father who died from cancer when he was just 7 years old instilled in him the importance of “stick-to-it-tiveness” ; his mother the importance of God, family and knowledge. He is a 2001 graduated of Kalamazoo Central High School where he focused on accounting and business skill as well as his love for music. He graduated in 2005 from Kalamazoo Valley Community College were he received his Associates of Applied Sciences in Business Administration.
Nick is an enterprising business man who has worked in the banking and financial service industry since 2001 and separately has been in business since junior high school. Today he is the owner of United Lawn Service, LLC while also taking part in other ventures in the financial services industry. It was in 2005 while growing United Lawn Service that Nick became enamored with his secretary, a life long acquaintance and fellow church member, Karen Elisabeth (Beth) Russell. He grew to love her and had the pleasure of marrying her on July 7, 2007 (07/07/07). They have two wonderful children, Loralynn and Tony, who keep them busy with their many activities.
Nick is a lifelong member of Christ Temple Church where he has served as a musician, choir member, youth treasurer, youth vice chairman and armor bearer. In 2010 Nick was appointed as youth chairman by his new pastor, Elder Tony Thomas, and faithfully serves to the glory of God. He encourages the youth of Christ Temple to do more, to be more, and be ready to go when God calls them. He puts his own words into practice serving as the musician for the Northside Ministerial Alliance where he is also a member and providing music; when the church outreach ministry goes to senior living facilities and the gospel mission.
In addition to his business endeavors and work in the church Nick is civic minded and believes in giving back to his community. In 2004 Nick began working as an election inspector and precinct chairperson for the City of Kalamazoo. Since then He has also served on the Community Relations Board, run for the office of Kalamazoo City Commission and currently serves as the Chairman of the Kalamazoo Zoning Board of Appeals, and board member on the Kalamazoo Friends of Recreation and Kalamazoo Deacons Conference.
