Nick Bailey

My work inhabits a realm of mild disappointment: empirically, and miserly metered-out. Apparatus that entices through both mundane familiarity and the whimsy of desire, or self-restraint. The audience can question conventional roles; a viewer is compelled to gauge whether to physically interact with the work, whilst coming to an understanding of what this might mean. One is reminded that, at best, this still only amounts to physical contact with an object or objects, and while the ‘toucher’ may be momentarily rewarded with some anticlimactic consequence, this is only a superficial disguise for base positive-reinforcement.
