02 Step Two

STEP TWO: Came to believe that a Power Greater than Ourselves could restore us to sanity.

  1. Read the The Serenity Prayer for Nicotine Users. Print out and keep with you at all times. Promise yourself you will read it before picking up your nicotine.  I used the prayer a thousand times in early recovery and it helped me immensely. At first even the simplest of prayers helped. I asked my Higher Power to keep me smober and I gave thanks each evening for doing so.  Some of us had a problem with a Higher Power.  Our Nicotine Anonymous: The Book states The power can be a God, other people, or a doorknob.  Our Higher Power is something or someone to turn difficult things over to.”  You need not have another man's conception of God. Your own conception will work no matter however inadequate that may be at this time. Go with your gut feelings of what is right for you and it will work. Religion plays no part in recovery but spirituality does.

  2. Read in Nicotine Anonymous:The Book  on Step 2 ,  and Also in the Newcomer's Booklet  and in NAWS Study Guide.  See How to get Literatur if you don't have these books.
