How to Apply
The Magnet Application window is October 4, - November 10, 2017. In order to attend any LAUSD Magnet, parents must apply through the eChoices Application. Please visit for the online application and for more information. NOTE: You MUST live within the Los Angeles Unified School District in order to apply.  You may still apply after the application window, but you will be placed on a late application wait list.

Magnet Acceptance Letters and Emails
will be sent out in March.

Attend a Magnet Night
We will give a short presentation at the following schools.
Monroe HS: September 29, 2016 from 6pm - 8pm (last year)
Walter Reed MS: October 4, 2017 from 5pm- 8pm
King MS: October 12, 2017 from 4:30pm - 6:30pm
Millikan MS: October 6, 2016 from 6pm - 8pm (last year)

Visit our Campus
Campus tours will take place on at 8:45am and 12:45pm
Wednesday, October 4, 2017 
Thursday, October 19, 2017 
Friday, November 3, 2017.  

All of our tours will be approximately 60 - 90 minutes and will include a tour of our campus and our facilities in the LA Zoo. All tours also include time to walk around our campus during nutrition or lunch so you can talk to our students and staff to see how our busing system works without disrupting instructional time.

If your tour begins at the LA Zoo, you must be escorted into the Zoo. If you arrive late, you may join our group as we tour the Zoo Magnet campus, but you will not be able to tour inside the LA Zoo.  You will finish your tour as our students go to nutrition.

If your tour begins at the Zoo Magnet, you will be arriving during our students' lunch time, then get a talk at the LA Zoo.

How to Enroll

  1. Pick up a Registration Packet here at the Zoo Magnet at the Zoo Magnet Campus beginning on April 17th betwen 8:00am - 2:00pm.
  2. Return your completed Registration Packet in person by Thursday, May 4, 2017.  
    Mailed registration packets are not accepted.

  3. If you choose to fill out your packet here in the office, please  bring requested items (listed below) and allow 1hr to 1 1/2 hrs to fill in packet.
Items needed for enrollment:
  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Parent Drivers License
  • LAUSD, Unofficial Transcript for grades 6,7,8
    • If you are coming from a non-LAUSD school, please include a sealed, official transcript.
  • Utility bill (gas or DWP) with parent name and address
