Welcome to our newest members from Manchester North Little League and congratulations to Hooksett Little Leage as the two leagues were granted permission from Little League International in Williamsport, PA to merge into one. Ironing out the details and setting the board are two activities currently underway, but one detail that was confirmed is the new league will be in District 2 keeping the number of teams in NH2 at nine.

We look forward to meeting with the new league board and getting plans underway for the 2017 New Hampshire District Tournament.

Portsmouth Moves on to Cranston!

posted Jul 25, 2016, 4:03 AM by David Ryan

Congratulations to Portsmouth 1 8/9/10 as they swept District 1 Champion Goffstown in the State Tournament on July 23 and 24 to move on to the Eastern Regional Tournament in Cranston, RI beginning on Friday, August 5, 2016. Portsmouth came from behind in both games and on Saturday wiped away an early deficit to seal a win in decisive fashion with a score of 12-8. Game Two brought more up and down action as Goffstown grabbed an early lead. Portsmouth clawed back to within a few only to yield the lead again in extra innings leading to their walk off win in the bottom of the eighth, 7-6.

In the 10/11/12 final, District 1 perennial power Bedford used six home runs to slug its way past Lamprey River, 8-7, and move on to Bristol for the Little League Eastern Regional and a chance to play in the Little League World Series. Bedford also won Game One with a thrilling 5-4 sixth inning comeback. Lamprey River fought hard and represented District 2 well, and either game could have gone either way. It was a great season for our district champs!

With that we close out our Little League season and invite you to follow Portsmouth and all of the action from Cranston at https://910easternregion.wordpress.com/.

Scores and updates from Bristol for the 10/11/12 year olds can be followed at http://www.eteamz.com/llbeast/news/index.cfm?cat=219047.

A huge thank you to Concord Little League for serving as the host site for the District and State Tournaments. They have done an excellent job and the field is in beautiful condition. Welcome to the 2016 District 2 Tournament!

We hope you are enjoying the remaining few weeks of your league's regular season and getting ready to begin the arduous journey to Williamsport. A light snowfall this past winter opened the door to an earlier start of the season than in past years and the fields around District 2 look terrific.

This year's tournament will begin on June 24 with round robin play concluding on July 11. The district playoffs will be held at Grappone Park in Concord during the weekend of July 16-17 with the state tournament also being hosted there from July 23-27.

A few updates in District 2 include Thomas Wainwright (Laconia Little League) being named District Assistant Umpire-in-Chief, District UIC David Ryan (Hooksett Little League) being assigned to umpire the 2016 Little League Eastern Regional in Bristol, CT, and Charlie Brewer (LaPlata, MD and Laconia Little League) receiving an assignment to umpire the Senior League Eastern Regional Tournament in West Deptford, NJ.

Concord Little League returns as the reigning 9/10 Eastern Regional Champions while Rye Little League carries the District's 11/12 banner into this year. Soon we will see if the two leagues can continue their hold on the trophy or if a new champion will be crowned. It is coming up: the 2016 District 2 Little League Tournament!

Rye's Season Ends, Concord Still Battling

posted Jul 26, 2015, 4:17 PM by David Ryan

Rye saw its dream of returning to the East Regional come to an end today at the hands of a strongly offensive Bedford team as it dropped the second consecutive state final game, 15-7. Bedford also won the first game, 10-5, to win the series 2-0 and continue on to Bristol for the Eastern Regional scheduled for August 10-16. Bedford will open on August 11 vs. the winner of the Connecticut/Rhode Island match-up slated for August 10.

Congratulations to Rye in its run to the State finals as the team amassed 104 runs and gave up only 22 in 40 strong innings of District 2 play. Rye punctuated their District 2 prominence with four (4) home runs in the District final.

Meanwhile our 9/10 District Champions Concord remains in the State tournament as they won their first game v Goffstown 5-2 before dropping the second tilt, 6-1. The two teams will battle it out on Tuesday night, July 28, at 5:00 PM in a winner takes all fight for the right to go to the Eastern Regional in Cranston, RI beginning on August 7.

Good luck Concord and great season Rye!
