keep it simple, travel light, and move from place to place.

The Newton Nomadic Theater is dedicated to producing simply staged, high quality theater in interesting and unconventional theater spaces in and around Newton.  In between theatrical productions the theater also regularly hosts Nomad Story Slams, Moth radio inspired nights of story telling.

The Tony award winning God of Carnage by Yesmina Reza begins with a broken tooth on a playground and unfolds with four fraught parents spinning wildly out of control as they try to sort out the situation in a civilized manner.  For extra fun we'll be setting the action right here in Newton.

Director Paula Plum has assembled a fabulous cast of Newton Nomadic regulars featuring Linda Goetz ( Beauty Queene of Leenane, A Picasso, Doubt) Billy Meleady ( Turn of the Screw, Molly Sweeney, All in the Timing), Noni Lewis (Molly Sweeney, All in the Timing) and a great Newton Nomadic newcomer Conor Seamus Moroney.

Throughout the year we present Nomad Story Slams.  These nights of storytelling are based loosely on the Moth Radio Hours.  Anyone can thow their name in the hat and tell a five minute story on the theme of the night.

The next Nomad Story Slam on Friday Nov 3 will be something entirely different.  We've invited 30 candidates who are running for public office in Newton to come tell a 5 minute personal story.  No campaign speeches, no policy pronouncements, just a true, honest personal story.  Come learn about the people inside the candidates.

Last spring we hosted three sold out shows of John McDonagh's one man show The Cabtivist

We just heard some big news from John ...

He was heading off the next day to be a featured guest at the storytelling tent at Ireland's Electric Picnic - an event that attracts a crowd of 50,000 people
* He will be featured on Comedy Central's Daily Show some time in September.
* New York's Irish Repertory Theater had just agreed to produce a four week run of the Cabtivist starting later this month.

Between all of these bursts of activity, John's hoping to sneak up to Newton and do a one night performance of The Cabtivist at Dunn Gaherins some time soon - stay tuned.
